Why oh why is your server so damn slow?

Recommended Posts

Seriosuly? the server that this forum is on is honestly the worst ive seen for a site. The forums are slow to update. if I post, it doesnt show up in the new post box untill maybe 20-30 minutes later. I jsut looked on top of the server,a nd it says my last visit was may 8th? wtf? i was here yesterday. I dunno if youre paying for the hsoting or not, but I would be hounding them untill they fix the major ping/lag issues people are getting. I hope im not the only one. I know Pirate also has the same issues.

It is not the host, and it is not a speed issue. It is what we've been calling a "lag", it takes a while for the database to update. That is not entirely accurate, but I dont think I'll explain exactly what it does.

There have been numerous topics about this already. Here's one: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=2504

I have no clue what is causing the issue and i've spent a lot of time on it. I have erased all unessential database entries and tables and tested it using completely original files.

Server trafic + Old threads can slow server down,

Solution, back up old threads, or complile whatever is good info and delete old stuff, or combine amount of threads less groups with more stuff in it, a minimal skin would be very usefull.(Skin for someone who is lagging, that doesnt use many images) or text only mode.

Well enigma, this forum has an extremely small amount of threads and posts in comparison to other forums using the same software. Even with 10 times more, and they dont have the same problems.

It does seem like the host. However I concluded that it must be the database tables of the forums. The reason being is that the website and forum use the same database in order for the bridge to work, and the website works fine, there's no lag. So what does that mean? Either its forums database tables, or how the host is running them?
