Free ScreenRecorder?

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I'm looking for a free screen recorder so I can record my game and make a trailer for it later on. But, I've searched and searched, but everything always only lets me go a minute.

Does anyone know where I can find one? I t could help me a lot if I ever needed to show anyone a sample of what I can do and stuff >.<

Well, thank you for your time!

There are 2 programs that I know of that can do this. One is called Camstudio, and another is Camtasia Studio. Camstudio records the screen (sometimes with no sounds. Well no sounds for me) and you can edit it with Windows Movie Maker. Camtasia Studio is both Camstudio and Windows Movie Maker in one, you can zoom in/out with Camtasia for the video. I believe this site has Camtasia Studio 5..... Yep, right here.....

Trial Version of course :P

I'm using Camtasia Studio 6 though, I forgot about Camtasia Studio 5 on this site :P

Camstudio is free, but limited to certain things but that might just be me.....

http://camstudio.org/

Go to where it says Download Links and the link called CamStudio20.exe is what you download/install.

WOW, I was looking for one just yesterday! I did find one, though, here is teh link to where I found it:

I chose the Screen Recorder Gold link in the video info. It does have a premium version to pay for, but I never had a limit to how long I can record with it. The only thing though is that it has the 'unregistered' text on the corner of the screen.

When you download the Gold one, and when you run it it should have something that says serial key and name or something like that. Click the 'Later' option and you're free to record and save. Just remember to set the Area to Full Screen =)

It might not be as fancy schmancy as the ones Nis put up but I use it and i have no complaints.

Both of ya' made some helpful posts! :)

I don't even wanna try one of these out though, every video I've seen on youtube is horrible when it comes to demonstrating the videos.

I guess the youtube screen size IS small....

I think they're 320*240 or something like that. I think Camtasia Studio downloads videos from youtube, or was that something else? i'll look later when I'm on my computer :P

Hmm, interesting.

What I wanna' know is, can you zoom in and keep decent quality, like it'd look like if you just put your face closer to the screen?

Thanks. ;)

You can zoom in to get a better look at what you recorded, yes. I used Camtasia Studio to make a Screen Saver, needed another program, but the other program is just the convert video to ScreenSaver.filetype. This account used Camtasiao Studio for an RMXP Tutorial.

He zoomed in so you would see the words better for the Character Sprites.

How can I record the sound of the video with Cam Studio? I would like to know.

Thanks.

Are you having the same problem as this person?

@CrimsonInferno: A question. Do you want a script that lets you play a video in RMXP? If you modify one part, it can also work for RMVX.

Sorry for the late reply everyone!

Thank you so much for replying and helping me Nisage, again :>

I've used Camstudio before and it only records 30 seconds on the trial for me. I will try out the others and get back, but either way this surely helped me.

Thank you too, UrHappyPlz. It helps when I have a large section to pick from :)

I thought I could just get the colors to 256 and than put it in there through the actual system. Do I need a script? If so, than yes please, show me :P

+Rep to every nice person here ^^

EDIT:

Using Camtasia, I got this with no sound. Works good besides that flaw though.

Camstudio has a trial? Don't you mean Camtasia? Anyway, yes you need a script and how to set it all up. Which is why I uploaded a demo of it, with a Credit Notebook so you'll know who to credot for the script, and here it is.....

I use thesetting the Green haired NPC has. It makes the video full screen. Not Computer screen - Full screen, big as RMXP Window Full screen.... Did that make sense?

It must of gotten a downgrade last time I used it. It didn't have a trial last time. But that was in 2006, or was it 2007........ Yeah, that long ago :P

Edit:@Kiriashi: For the zoom, you can zoom in anywhere in the video you recorded with Camtasia Studio at anytime during the editing of the video, and it won't get fuzzy :)

Hm...don't know what happened than. Maybe its not really the Camstudio. That could explain the "no" sound part.

Camstudio has a trial? When I used that program it didn't. Camstudio can record sound, though I really don't like it because when I'm recording for games it lags like hell, and I've always encountered problems saving the video file I just recorded.

I'm pretty positive I was using the trial, because it kept saying "trial" on it.

What about Camtasia? Can it record sound with or without Headphones on? My speakers aren't hooked up, so I have to use headphones :S

EDIT:

Is it just me, or does anyone else see their posts decreasing? Mine went from 479 to 458. Yesterday night I had 460....

I never tried with headphones, so it might. I used headphones/speakers for a mic a few times. Didn't really recorded perfectly, but still recorded, more or less :P And yeah, I think they have gone down by a few, it's weird.
