Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 The Silent Snow **Story** A long time ago, a war was raging through the land of Zerbia, humans fought against demons from the darkest dephts of hell. The demons were searching for 8 mysterious and powerful artefacts called the "Eyes of Salvation". Alone, these artefact could only produce a small amount of energy but together it could grant the wish of the holder of them all, these artefacts is what the dark forces were after. The humans found all artefacts and knew they had to protect them, so they fought against the demons for a long time, they knew they could not use the power of the artefacts because of it's massive powers so they protected them instead. After a long and raging war, the humans won, the demons perished but only for a little time. The humans knew they had to hide the artefacts. The humans split up in 8 groups and took the artefacts in different locations hiding them from evil itself, hoping it's power would never be unleashed. Many years has passed and the old generation of soldiers have given this job to their sons in order for them to continue to guard the artefacts. The dark forces returns, with more power then before, searching for those who defeated them in the war as they slay them one after another. zane203 8 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Awesome man! I have high hopes for the game and would love to play a demo when ever you announce one... since i have (WFS) ((wolf fanatic syndrome) i simply cant get enough of wolves =o wolves rock outloud... back on topic, are you working on the game alone?
Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Thanks for showing your interest =) Yes, I'm working on the game alone but there are 2 who helps out with a few things. I have a friend on DA, TheSilentSnow, who makes a wolf battler and the title screen, also here on RMXP Unlimited, Pony Pink Polaroid is trying to make a stage selection script. The game will be similar to megaman where the player can choose between 8 stages with a boss at the end of each stage. When a boss is defeated, the player will gain the boss' special skill. The skill will be very effective towards another boss. Also, the player won't recieve experience from the bosses, the bosses will be at the same level. The player need the special skill and a strategy to defeat the bosses, so it will be hard battles. Also, each stage will have a village and a storyline, so it's not just like passing through and kill the boss. It will take some time before a demo release, I hope I can at least release some screenshots soon.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted September 23, 2009 Cant wait to play this. I have a friend on DA, TheSilentSnow, who makes a wolf battler and the title screen, also here on RMXP Unlimited, Pony Pink Polaroid is trying to make a stage selection script. Yea i will have time this weekend so it might be done after.

Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Just a quick notice, I've added 4 screenshots and 2 new characters. I know the mapping is poor, I'm still working on the mapping. I will also fix a few errors I've discovered. But at least I got something to show =)
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Your mapping is good as far as i see. I love how you made the church.
Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted September 30, 2009 Thank you Polraudio, I appreciate it =) On Creation Asylum I often hear the negative parts (mostly mapping) about my game so that's why I like this board even more. I really don't feel myself welcome at CA. But I will still work more on the mapping, most of my maps are usually empty. XD
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 This forum is always the best! There is always room for improvement, sure, but for the most your maps are fine. For criticisms sake: Ziro's home is quite empty in the hallways with the action going on. Drop the mist in the church-y thing-y. I learned the hard way (through the jerks on RMXP.org ((which is now HBOgames))) that mist is kinda' a cheap way of adding mood to your map. It is seldom, yet not never, used appropriately. Try using Cosmetic Lighting instead of fog. It will really work nicely. ;) 1 Ravenclaw105 reacted to this
zane203 8 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 well look at it at an improving way, if we tell you you're good here, which you are good, you dont have much more to work on aside from your personal desire to get better for no reason, while at CA if they say, nice but needs yadda yada yadda, then you're gonna wanna prove them wrong =3 either way, negative critiques help you improve on something ^_^ *Anime Pose*
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 That is so true/ Whenever I get @$$holed at .org, I prove everyone wrong. :P Raven, get rid of the links for pictures, just post them without links. : D
Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted October 1, 2009 Yeah I agree, criticism works fine with me, a few suggestions and such. But what I don't like when several people post a comment similar to: "Your mapping need more work!". That's not criticism XD And since I usually state that my maps are in ongoing progress and will change before the demo release, they still post the same comment. Anyway, thanks a lot for your criticism Kiriashi =) Ziro's home is quite empty in the hallways with the action going on. Yeah I know what you mean, I will add more stuff and still making it look good, it's hard to know what to place where XD Drop the mist in the church-y thing-y. I learned the hard way (through the jerks on RMXP.org ((which is now HBOgames))) that mist is kinda' a cheap way of adding mood to your map. It is seldom, yet not never, used appropriately. Hmm, interesting. I thought the mist would make the temple look old and dusty, no one have been down there for centuries, it have never seen the sunlight and it's all covered in dust, so I thought the mist would give it this cool effect. Ah well =) Try using Cosmetic Lighting instead of fog. It will really work nicely Interesting, I will check this out and test it, althought since this temple is hidden a long way beneath the ground, there's not so much light to come inside XD But I will see what I can do, thanks for the suggestion. As for CA, mostly I just head negative criticism without suggestions and also I often don't hear anything, like they ignore me completely XD But this place is like heaven, thankfully I feel more accepted here. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 Anyway, thanks a lot for your criticism Kiriashi =) No problem! I'm always here to help! I've got 1628 posts of helpfulness to prove it... well at least 1000 of those posts are... hehe... Yeah I know what you mean, I will add more stuff and still making it look good, it's hard to know what to place where XD You wanna know a good way to find out where stuff should be added? Take a look around your house. Take some mental notes on the positions and quantities of furnishing, and make a map based on it. Sure some things won't appear in medieval times, but you will get a better idea on how to shape rooms and such. Hmm, interesting. I thought the mist would make the temple look old and dusty, no one have been down there for centuries, it have never seen the sunlight and it's all covered in dust, so I thought the mist would give it this cool effect. Ah well =) I can see where you were going with it, but when people play the game, they might think it looks cheap. That is, unless you make/find a dust fog (I don't mean like a fog, I mean the RMXP term "fog") to use. Or, you could ma- never mind that would be to hard. Interesting, I will check this out and test it, althought since this temple is hidden a long way beneath the ground, there's not so much light to come inside XD But I will see what I can do, thanks for the suggestion. Dude, there is at least some light in every map. You can't tell me there is no light in your chu- temple, no matter how far underground it is. SOOOOOOOOOO0000ooooo, use it. No excuses, always use cosmetic lighting, unless you have an AWESOME reason. As for CA, mostly I just head negative criticism without suggestions and also I often don't hear anything, like they ignore me completely XD But this place is like heaven, thankfully I feel more accepted here. Well, as you know, it's hard to find a good forum. ;) All is well though, for you have found a good forum. *yays* ...yays should be a verb... EDIT: By the way, that's a brilliant Window Skin you got there.
Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 No problem! I'm always here to help! I've got 1628 posts of helpfulness to prove it... well at least 1000 of those posts are... hehe... Hehe, sure are. And that's great =) I even gave you a reputation point for your help back there. You wanna know a good way to find out where stuff should be added? Take a look around your house. Take some mental notes on the positions and quantities of furnishing, and make a map based on it. Sure some things won't appear in medieval times, but you will get a better idea on how to shape rooms and such. That is, unless you make/find a dust fog (I don't mean like a fog, I mean the RMXP term "fog") to use. Or, you could ma- never mind that would be to hard. Yeah, you're right on that. I could see if I can find some kind of dust fog (or make my own XD) but if it doesn't look good I can always use the cosmetic lighting ^__^ Dude, there is at least some light in every map. You can't tell me there is no light in your chu- temple, no matter how far underground it is. SOOOOOOOOOO0000ooooo, use it. No excuses, always use cosmetic lighting, unless you have an AWESOME reason. Your right, after you gave me the link I tried adding it on Ziro's house in the beginning of the game, I made 2 of them so far, Ziro's house and his basement. But somehoe it don't look as it should so I need to work more on this, the example map in the tutorial is of normal size, Ziro's house is a little bit bigger so the "fog" don't really stay where it should XD Well, as you know, it's hard to find a good forum. All is well though, for you have found a good forum. *yays* Indeed, I know of a few very good forums, but only one good forum for RMXP =) By the way, that's a brilliant Window Skin you got there. Indeed it is, thanks for reminding me. I added credits for it and some animations I'm using in my first post. I found the windowsskin on Naramura's website. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 Is mass quoteage replying the new thing or something? Hehe, sure are. And that's great =) I even gave you a reputation point for your help back there. :) I do my best! Interesting suggestion, thanks =) I use this technique-y all the time. Its really quite helpful when you want realistic looking maps. Yeah, you're right on that. I could see if I can find some kind of dust fog (or make my own XD) but if it doesn't look good I can always use the cosmetic lighting ^__^ That's right! You could make a cosmetic lighting with dust looking shadows in it. Good idea! Your right, after you gave me the link I tried adding it on Ziro's house in the beginning of the game, I made 2 of them so far, Ziro's house and his basement. But somehoe it don't look as it should so I need to work more on this, the example map in the tutorial is of normal size, Ziro's house is a little bit bigger so the "fog" don't really stay where it should XD Make your fog the same size in pixels as your map. So if you have a map that is 640x480 make the fog that size. 640 by 480 is the default. To find the size, get the width of your map in squares (RPG Maker XP squares, like the default which is 20*15) and multiply it by 32. Then multiply your map's length and multiply it by 32. This is it's size in pixels. I'm pretty sure this will work. Post some pictures of your maps so I can see what you think you are doing wrong. Indeed, I know of a few very good forums, but only one good forum for RMXP =) This place is just amazing. To tell the truth, I came here just for a quick question, and was going to leave after that, but I saw how awesome these forums were. So I stayed ;). Indeed it is, thanks for reminding me. I added credits for it and some animations I'm using in my first post. I found the windowsskin on Naramura's website. Oh really? I gotta check that site out, I've always just seen Nara resources on other sites. *friend add* And yes, I did use a different font for every question. Ravenclaw105 2 Report post Posted October 2, 2009 Is mass quoteage replying the new thing or something? Hmm, maybe XD It's just easier to reply to so many questions/suggestions =) I use this technique-y all the time. Its really quite helpful when you want realistic looking maps. Indeed, I've never seen that technique before so it will take some time to get use to it, but I must admit it makes it far more realistic =) That's right! You could make a cosmetic lighting with dust looking shadows in it. Good idea! Yeah, sounds indeed very good. Make your fog the same size in pixels as your map. Done that, the "fog" is exactly the same size as the map, still it doesn't look alright. But of course I might just be blind, I'll try and do it once more and if it don't look good, I post a screenshot =) This place is just amazing. To tell the truth, I came here just for a quick question, and was going to leave after that, but I saw how awesome these forums were. So I stayed . I've been here quite a while, I helped Marked out in the beginning. Then I left, came back, left and came back again XD Hopefully I'm here to stay now =) Oh really? I gotta check that site out, I've always just seen Nara resources on other sites. *friend add* Here's a quick link to her site if you don't have it: Link Just click on one of the links in the material section to view her work. Some battlers don't have a similar charset, some of those cna be found here: Link Just check under the Naramura section. And yes, I did use a different font for every question. Really, didn't notice that XD
