zane203 8 Report post Posted September 29, 2009 Ok so recently I finished designing my own personal AI style, I call it: "CZZC's Advanced AI System" - as its the most advanced dialog style i've done so far. Now in your opinion, do you feel that pointless dialog is boring? and that i should just keep it with only hinting tidbits? This is basically how I have the system set up to work. (if you're not interested in the mechanics please refer to the areas that have [EXAMPLE] next to them, and skip to the end of this post [EXAMPLE]First of all the character is set up to appear in different locations and at different times of the day (7 times of the day, each 5minutes) -ok depending on if they're there or not, and depending on what time of the day it is, AND depending on where you are in the main storyline (and sometimes side/mini quests), the dialog will appear from over 100(planned - only have about a few finished for each person -- as every sprite is an individual themself) different text.[/EXAMPLE] it starts off by you choosing which type of conversation do you want to have [EXAMPLE] "Talk" "Question" "(N/A)" "(N/A)" [/EXAMPLE] ======== *NOTE: The N/A's are only options for special characters, for instance if it is a clerk, choice 3 would be "Shopping" ======== if you click talk, random topics come up, and you can continue on a long winded conversation, (This is used to show some history of the KoS Manga character, an easy but random way to gain extra snippets of information about the characters, which may or may not help in the game. -Questions go DEEP if the character is important, and a quest is going on, then questions can be asked about the quest for little hints. Which can later on go into roots of the conversation for more specific details! =O END Now does this seem to be to much for a simple rpg that does not offer the wide range of sandboxing? I need to know because i can put this system into the next line up game project of CZZC, and just leave this game dialog more simple and finish the game faster lol. Thank you. *The AI also responds to the environment, actions you've done previously, the level and strengths of your character, and even more.
