How to stop Variables from resetting when changing maps

Recommended Posts

well recently i just created a whole network of systems all connected together... and i even tested them countless times. I was successful in creating the systems and when i started testing map transitions, i noticed my variables kept resetting >_< this is a major problem that would hinder my systems useless ='(

does anyone know how to keep the variables constant throughout every transition?

-Thanks in advance

-ZenOokami-

.... think i fixed it, i used a "+" operation rather than set operation...

now i just got to get the NPCs to function WITH the systems like i want too X.x ... really... i didnt expect this many bugs so soon lol...

*depressed*

... lawl... fixed that too... just found out that you need to have the pages ordered correctly as the variables and switches as well...

... lol i think i wasted your memory and time(if you're reading this) just by posting before actually giving a lot of time trying to fix the problem x.X...

aye they are captain, argh!

I recently had a epiphany on how wide i could make my old systems with variables lol. I use to use tons and tons of switches with like 1 variable number. But now that i'm working on an actual "semi-serious" project, where i have to have all switches/variables organized... its kinda hard to work like i want lol.

since i need a few hundred switches for the leveling systems for all the KoS characters, i couldnt afford using switches for the ZDB time/ZDB Advanced AI/ZDB control/ZDB Dynamic Map systems x.X

variables = awesome, but dangerous... i just finished taking about MAJOR UBER lag just by switching some variables around...

=( this is extremely annoying doing it all by yourself xD.

-Thanks for reading my useless posts by the way, =o i like to keep people here lively xD

Well, my first mate, this is a site about RMXP.

We all love it, and we understand what ya' mean. Try the anti lag script!

Also, I used variables before switches... I know I'm weird.

Yep! For some reason, I find myself making random little event systems just for fun. I can't help it! It's a waste of precious time though...

When it comes to mini quests, I don't know where to stop.

I also make everything in my game doable. Like, if you see a barrel, there is something in that barrel. And everyone gives you quests and stuff like that.

Thats what im aiming for! complete interaction with EVERYTHING xD, ah HAH! i found my mind twin!

but this major project is still a practice, as this is planned to be my 1st released game fully functional =o, but i already have the next game on que which quality will determind the sucess on all the systems in KoS:TBoS =)

and i'd just like to say its because of you guys that im able to extend my skills on rmxp lol. After i finish the base of the projects, i'll start shaping my scripting skills lol xD

I've tried to start learning RGSS.... I just never actually gotten around to it.

Everyday I don't use RMXP, I forget how to do something anyways, so I still need to remaster old things...

i hear that you can get a specific part of rgss by master eventing lol. and i noticed a lot of rgss is like conditional branches extended beyond the understanding of heaven and hell xD.

anyways, you could always do what i do =o, make a comment on all the new things you create reminding you where and how you figured/learned it. and also make a .doc file with all the things you know and made. I actualy have a notebook with dividers with a lot of printed scripting material, and event materials, and things written down as theories and what not =), its the best method in my opinion =D
