Nisage 31 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 I was told I might be getting a new laptop or computer soon. My parents wanted to know what kind of computer I wanted. When I said if they could try to get a windows XP, they said that XP is no longer being made. Is that true, is Windows XP no longer being made and if so, why? I like XP, I tried a Vista and I didn't like it. I mean yeah I could install RMXP and RMVX, which is good, but Vista looks funny and I could'n get used to it (no offense to those that use/like Vista). I did hear about Windows 7. What was Windows 7 supposed to be, like Vista but better, or more like XP?
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 You can still get computer with XP on them but it costs more than getting Vista on it. Vista is not bad just dont get the Vista Basic it sucks so much and i think that's why people hate Vista. Windows 7 rocks people say its like vista but they don't know what the hell they are talking about because its only the look that's like vista. If you do get a new computer and it has vista make sure it has at least 2gb of ram or it will be crappy. But if you want to get Windows XP and spend more go for it. Just as a note. People who say vista sucks lots its either because they had the basic version or they dont know how to take care of their computer and didnt use it for more than a week. 1 Derek reacted to this
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 I don't like Vista only because I'm more used to XP. xD And you can still get Windows XP. :P Its just really damn expensive. You should check out macs!
Nisage 31 Report post Posted October 8, 2009 So they are still making XP? that's good :) @Polraudio: I like Windows XP, then again I still like my computer with windows 95 on it, or was it 98? Anyway, I know I didn't have Vista Basic. It was a Gateway Laptop with Vista on it, I didn't see the word "Basic" next to the word "Vista" anyware. As long as Windows 7 looks like Windows XP then I'm fine. I don't really like how Vista looked and how it worked. It was a pain to searh for something I downloaded on it, and that message that kept appearing whenever I opened RMXP and RMVX..... It was also a pain to get XP and VX to run right....... So for your "Just to note" comment, which one would I be? :P @Kiriashi: I dont think Macs can run RMXP and RMVX, can they? If not, then I rather not get one. True they don't get viruses, even though there are at least 2 Mac viruses (I did some googling, sound a funny video on a virus on a Mac) Here's the video..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0s5wQPz6E3c Anyway, Macs can't run the many programs I have :( I think you were able to have a Mac have a Window XP or something like that on it as well, not sure. Ditherliss 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2009 Its just really damn expensive. That's anywhere between $500 and $2500 You should check out macs! That's $3000 and extremely over-priced for a piece of crap that's not upgradable. And I'm pretty sure they still make XP, but they'll stop in, like, 4 years or something. It's on the Windows website.
