Project Idea

Recommended Posts

Alright, I'm new here and i saw so many members that are so talented and dedicated to projects but can't seem to get it jumping.

My idea is that, instead of everyone doing their own projects and not recieving the help they thaught they would get. Why not just come together and do one project all together?

Since there are so many different artist here doing their own styles, we can all incorporate our styles into the game through what we do for the project. Set up teams and get it done with so many different styles. It would be so original.

Storyline Team: It's up to them to discuss the story and finish a storyline in script form for the game. They also come up with the characters Bio's, being their abilities and background.

Graphic Designers: It's up to these fellows to finish all the graphics for the game, being the text windows and menus. They also do the main artwork for the characters, being the menu icons and cutscene/concept art. They handle the back drops also.

Spriters: It's up to these douches to do all the characters that the Graphic Designers made in Sprite form. They also handle all the Items and Objects used in the Maps. They also do the Map Sprites.

Scripters: These people have to create scripts so the game can do whatever we need it to do.

Composers: It's up to these people to make all the music and sounds used in the game.

Voice Actors: Get this done.

*My point here is that with so many different people with their own styles, they have to discuss what they want to do and come to an agreement. Mainly just get it done, nobody should care how you get it done, just do it. Thats the fastest way the project gets done and at the same time its so original and keeps the player wanting to see what happens next.

If this doesnt influence anyone to actually work together, i hope you all gain knowledge on how to actually do a project and organize it.

the only problem with this, and i dont mean to call it a problem, but everyone has their own views and perspective... in which anytime you have more than one Leaders of a Game, you'll end up with tons of conflicts =/

and then you have those like me, already committed getting their project finished... so i wont have time to help with any other project aside from the resources that i release or what not.

yea, i was aware that too many Leaders is a problem.

Thats why you have to split things in bounderies. Like spriters can split the amount of sprites between each other. Like lets say they have to design 10 sprites and there are 5 spriters, then each spriter has to design 2 sprites.

but overall it was just a little idea or tip for those setting up a team.

It's funny you posted this because I was setting up a contest with Polraudio yesterday that is quite similar to this. :)

I think this is a great idea! And, zane, you'd be surprised; most people on this site are very easy to work with and don't cause a lot of trouble.

lol i dont mean being mean or causing problems, but everyone here is extremely creative x.X and if you're going to make a serious game... ideas shall clash, =3 i never said you couldnt work around it, but just arguing in general takes up a lot of time that could be well spent somewhere else lol.

but by all means =o if you go for it, GO FOR IT WITH A DON! -One Piece-

now im off to go read the new chapter of Soul Eater... does anyone know if they're going to a weekly update instead of a monthly one now?

Ah, I see. Yes, we all do things out own way, but arguing and having good conversation is necessary in a project.

And nope, I don't even know what Soul Eater is.

I agree with Kiriashi. it is needed in a project. I think a project with many different creative people would be a classic. Your bringing in so many different styles together in one project.

I don't. =| I doesn't really matter if you're exaggerating, you sure are busy. How would it be possible to make a story line and all that? If you can do it, then kudos to you.

what the heck. why not?

i'd be interested

I might interested in joining as well :)

Cool, two takers. Well I'll get around to writing up the topic later tomorrow. Someone send me a PM if I forget. ;)

Lol, I'm not exaggerating

I only do that when I'm using Hyperboles

besides my in development games are basically in concept, no actual base or framework yet, so I'm not working on it

It does not take me a long time to come up with a good story line

I'm already thinking of 3 for this project...

Well I had an idea similar to this, but I had a lot more rules and templates and stuff like that written down. More like an official topic. IF we were to do this, we should start a new topic, and I was wondering if I should make the topic. :)
