[XP] Export Game to CD

Recommended Posts

I want to export my game once it's finished to a CD, that can be played from any computer whether it requires installation or not. I have the feeling that "Compress Game Data" only stores the unique data, not all the game images, sounds, etc. that come built into it. How could I put it on a CD so people without RPG Maker installed can play it?

well when you compress the data it forms its own exe file that can be run anywhere. what it does is create a compressed form of your game that install all the files to the comp

I know what it does but it doesn't add the built in images and stuff that RPG Maker XP comes with so you can't run it unless you're using a computer with RPG Maker XP installed.

You can turn the RTP off and include it with your game. You will have to copy the RTP files to your game and find the RGSS102E.dll file on your computer that it requires and put that in the root of your game along with game.exe. The only thing that does not get encrypted is the Audio. Once you do all that copy it to your CD burner and burn it and wala they can play it on any computer without the RTP but...... they will not be able to save the game because its on a CD until they copy the game to their computer.

I use to take my game back and forth to school so i would know.

Please make a new topic for new questions.

Also please elaborate because I don't understand your question.

... the easiest way to set it up with a CD imo would be to simply make your own installation file and put that on the CD...

the installation could include the rtp install.exe and your game. Yea its not playing the game directly from the CD but its the easiest option imo.
