Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 Well, lighting for instance. It may be lighter in one spot than it is in another. Atleast 95% of the event commands can be used for this project.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 well, in truth...you can only use the commands I ilsed...in which case you can only use about 1/3 if that...I think I listed specific commands anyway...and if not, then my computer died when trying to post that, and thus, I shall go edit...
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 You only listed about 6 commands. But I suppose it's your contest, your rules.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 Yeah, I know...I listed all the events that modify the map. Such as light and so forth. Also remember, you can only have 1 event to modify light and so forth, and all the modifications MUST be done right at the beginning. So you can't have events that will make the screen brighter or darker as you go, AKA, you can't make a Day and Night system, but you can darken or brighten the map if you want. Remember, this is a mapping contest, not a "who can make the best events" contest. I had it so you couldn't use any event commands, but Leon made me realize some tilesets need darkness, or weather conditions, and so forth.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 But if that were the case, what about occasional thunder noises or something? Or bridge effects?
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 what if what was the case? I'm confused...as for thunder noises and so forth...I dunno...and what are birdge effects? -is confused on that too-
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 (edited) Sorry, I meant going under and over bridges. Edited February 21, 2007 by Arkbennett
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 Oh...that would require transfer events...which aren't allowed...so, there's no way of doing bridge stuff...well, you CAN do passabilities, but, to make you go under AND over, you'd have to use transfer events, which aren't allowed... Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 21, 2007 I just use switchs.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 well...2 days left...ruins is still first place...so it looks like it may be ruins unless something else gets 2 votes...
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted February 22, 2007 I've never had a chance to use Ruins, so I'll go with that, if I decide to do the contest.
Leon 55 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 is 'call script' allowed? Just a quick q.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 umm... -thinks- no...I don't think I want to allow that, as anyone can do pretty much anything with that if they know what they are doing so...
Leon 55 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 All right. I only had a bridge script to use, but that's cool. your contest, your rules. But, I think we need to toss around ideas for aprils and come up with rules everyone is content with. No offense intended, just tryin to keep da peace.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 agreed. We do need to figure out a set of rules people can be happy with, but are still restricting...
Leon 55 Report post Posted February 23, 2007 aye, no worries. We'll take in private bout it.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 24, 2007 only a few hours left to vote. Whether you are participating or not, you should still vote, because if you do, it will help those who are participating by giving votes to something. At current, it is ruins in the lead by one point.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 The mapping contest is now open! All entries MUST be in by March 18, 2007 at 12:00AM EST. Via poll, all entries must use the "Ruins" tileset.
Grandor 0 Report post Posted February 25, 2007 Hmm, from reading the first post, I see your layout for the contest seems good. I look forward to seeing more contests from you in the future.

Grandor 0 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 The day for this contest has already expired. Do you wish to continue this for the month of April, or shall this be closed?
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted April 5, 2007 erk...it's due to the inactivity, and the fact that we had a lot of problems...this will be continued for April. Please remember to have your map in by April 18...
Marked 197 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 I'll enter this one, although I'm not the best mapper in the world. Do you we just post them here?
ryanrulz_11 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 kk, i'll enter this one. I had one up and ready for March but it was accidentally deleted. Details? (tileset, size, ect.)
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted April 7, 2007 all info should still be on the first post...like the tileset and such...you can have it any size, just as long as it isn't passed the max size allowed...you can post here, or PM them to me...the latter is preferred, so I can make a topic and such easier...
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted April 12, 2007 You are allowed to use whatever comes with the ruins tileset...so, autotiles and such on their own...meaning no editing of the tileset or autotiles...makes it more of a challenge that way.
Marked 197 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 All right. So we are using the tileset exactly how it is RPG Maker XP. Only 2 more days left.
EmilyAnnCoons 7 Report post Posted April 16, 2007 Yeap, now, everyone, please be sure to get your maps in by tomrrow, because today and tomorrow are your last chances at it.
