I just got a new computer with Windows 7 and I installed RPG Maker XP. I can start the program and open up a game project I'm working on but I can't test play it.

Whenever I try to test play, it shuts itself down.

Language-ID: 1053

More information 1: 257d

More information 2: 257d8f504c598531c429b24cac277ae5

Anyone knows how to fix this? I would greatly appreciate that. I want to continue working in rmxp =)

Oh, and sorry if the translation sounds a bit odd, I translated it quickly so there could be errors, but hopefully you'll understand it.

Did you set the compatibility mode for XP Service Pack 2 or 3 and run as Administrator?

Are you using the Legal version? Legal only works 100% on Windows 7.

When I got the computer it already had Windows 7 installed, it's no upgrade. But I have had some smaller problems with the administrator thing even thought I'm the only one using this computer.

I'm currently uses the illegal version, thought I plan to buy the legal one when I get more money.

It worked perfect on XP on my older computer.

Thats the only problem then.

Going to have to buy it if you want to use RMXP on Windows 7

This depends on what Windows 7 version you have (Home, Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate). The Windows XP mod can only be found in Professional and Ultimate; according to the packaging when you compare the versions.

You're talking about full Hardware Virtualization, while we're just simply talking about compatibility mode which is available on all editions.

Yes got the two mixed up; I was talking about Windows XP Mod which lets you run older Windows XP business software right on your Windows 7 desktop. My bad...

Yea... since the new windows run on hiding things in the desktop, program files are usually kept in the Programsx86 files, It won't be too hard to find since their always sorted, but if you look in the RMXP files, you'll have to find a way to re enable game.exe and maybe running as Administrator will be your best bet...

We already solved it. The game.exe in his game was corrupt.
