My Spider Logs

Recommended Posts

I enjoy spiders and well I photograph them.

I organized the images into their own Albums so look for the links to the left on that page for each Album; or just click them below:

Brown Widow

There are four types of Widow Spiders? They are the Northern Black Widow spider, the Southern Widow Spider, the red Widow Spider and the Brown Widow Spider. Although the venom of these spiders are not as toxic as the Black Widow, they are still very painful and can cause serious injury if not treated. Because brown widow spiders (latrodectus geometricus) can vary from light tan to dark brown or almost black and may have differing markings such as white, black, yellow, brown and even orange on the back of their abdomen, they are very hard to recognize! The picture in the link above (and below) of the brown widow spider. On the bottom of the abdomen you’ll notice the hourglass marking of red.

They're like...just sitting there in their webs...like they're plotting to take over the world or something. XD

But yeah, I do believe I have arachnophobia...I mean, I can deal with them (depends on the size) when getting rid of them, but if there was a big on in a room I would not go near that room. XD

Our friends have a block of land about 40 minutes drive from Childers, QLD, Australia. We're allowed on it anytime we want because we are good friends with them. Anyway, we had one of those campervan foldable tent things there that we folded up and was there for about a month. Underneath there was, litterally, about 200 big black moths about the size of your fist. My dad sprayed out all the moths and about 15 minutes later a big black spider about the size of the spider, and looks like it too, in the photo below:

[Trying to find better image]

It looked similar and I can remember the size but apart from that I don't know if it had markings on it or anything because my brain just went static, I screamed and ran. Any idea what it is?

Also, while looking for a photo (my entire body tingles when I take a look at this one)on google images I came across this one:

Any idea what this one is? I havn't ever seen one (thank god) and thats probally what drives my curiosity to find out what it is.
