Chapter Zero – The Prelude

Solaris is a book series that describes a peculiar future for man-kind. For one, we no longer inhabit just Earth, but have developed sophisticated space travel, and the recent advancements have allowed for the development of a new propulsion system called the “Warp Drive System”, or the WDS for short. This has allowed man-kind to spread out into the far corners of our Milky-Way Galaxy.

Because of this new system, we have discovered many planets that are similar to Earth, and have developed Colonies that have become known as the United Space Colonies Federation, or the USCF. This Federation has established its’ roots on Earth, where the World Leaders managed to settle down long enough to form an alliance, one that hasn’t been shattered for nearly 300 years since it was formed. This has allowed us to focus our resources into development of technology to help defend and expand our frontier borders in the hopes of discovering alien life forms, or something more drastic.

Recently, it would seem a new planet was discovered, where this series takes off at. This planet was given the name “Solaris”. This name is unique because Earth is in what we call the “Solar System”, and Solaris has many qualities like Earth, more so than any other. This discovery was very far and remote from Earth, taking nearly one month to reach at Warp Speed. This remoteness has caused the planet to develop on its own, leaving most decisions internal, and even raising a small military. The USCF has placed military posts on the two neighboring moons of Solaris, each respectively called “Sol I” and “Sol II” in hopes of making sure Solaris stays within Federation hands.

This story takes place based around the main character, Aaron. He has just turned 16 years old, is roughly 5’ 9”, dark brown hair, hazel eyes, and roughly 140lbs. His skin tone is a light tan, with hardly any blemishes on them. His outfit consists of a red T-shirt, jeans, and regular running shoes. He keeps his hair at shoulder length, allowing the wind to catch it. He does have a strange fascination of the wind, as it gives him comfort for unknown reasons.

Aaron lives with his Uncle Richard, who he calls his "pain in the ass”. Richard is a tall man, resting at a comfortable 6’ 5”, 201lbs, black hair and black eyes. He always is seen with a regular ball cap on, red and blue plaid shirt tucked into his khaki pants and dress shoes. Richard is a businessman, and his nephew, Aaron, assists him in running a Wind Farm for generating the planet’s electricity. Richard owns some of the windiest area’s in the entire planet [Although the entire planet is usually very windy], and generates nearly 93% of the planet’s energy on his own, making a very large profit off of it as well. He has a rather nasty temper when he doesn’t get his way, and Aaron often gets the full force of it.

As for the home, Aaron himself lives in a small wooden house on his own. It looks like a Log Cabin, complete with plumbing, furniture, electricity and all the real essentials needed to survive. Aaron actually requested it because he couldn’t stand living with his Uncle, and he wanted privacy. The Log Cabin was designed just for Aaron, who prefers the simple style of life, needing only simple food and a small bed. His Uncle lives in a gigantic 2-story mansion, and blows his money away.

Without further ado, I present Chapter One of Solaris!

Chapter One – The Winds of Solaris

Aaron was out, wandering around, letting his legs tell him where to go. It was a bright and sunny afternoon, but it was still a Monday, and Monday’s mean work. He was actually on the job right now, fetching tools to fix one of the Windmill Electromagnetic rotators. Just the demand for the tools called him to create a small supply shed next to his Cabin. Constructed of pure steel, this shed was full of all sorts of tools to fix any kind of problem he would run into on the Wind Farm.

Pushing open the door, he walked inside, lightly stepping on the floor not wanting to make much noise. Pushing past piles of boxes of tools and parts, he found just what he was looking for: A small wrench for tightening a bolt. Grabbing it and placing it in his pocket, he dashed out of the shed, closing the door as he left. The wind seemed to be at his feet as he took off running towards the Wind Fields.

“I feel a gust coming.” He whispered to himself. “I’m gonna make it there in time!” He sped up, and ran up a hill just before the Wind Farm started and was hit by an enormous gust of wind. Laughing as the wind picked him up; he gently flew backwards and landed softly in the grass. He didn’t understand why the wind had such a positive effect on him, but every time that happened it brought a smile to his face.

“AARON!” A deep gruffly voice shouted. Aaron cringed as he recognized that voice all too well. It was his uncle, who had probably noticed by now that one of the Wind Generators wasn’t turning.

“AARON!” he shouted again. This time, Aaron saw him walking his porky self out of his mansion looking for him. Cupping his hands to his mouth, his uncle shouted for him yet again.

“AARON!!” he yelled out. Tired of hearing him yell out his name, Aaron cupped his hands and shouted back.

“WHAT!” he hollered. His uncle jumped as the source of the sound was closer than he had expected. His face faded from surprise to anger as he stomped towards Aaron. As he reached where Aaron sat he pointed back at the Wind Farm.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” he said, his face turning slightly red. “One of the Wind Generators is down and you need to go fix it!” Aaron sighed and smiled a bit, causing Richard to get even redder. Grabbing him by the collar of his shirt, Richard hoisted Aaron to his feet and glared at him in the face.

“You think this is funny?” he shouted. “The longer that thing isn’t spinning, the less money I get!” Throwing him in the direction of the Wind Farm, he pointed again towards the non-working one.

“Now get to it!” Richard shouted before turning around and stomping off, back towards the mansion. Aaron sighed before getting back up and brushing himself off.

My life sucks. He thought to himself. He started to ascend the hill when he felt the wind at his back. He smiled and turned around as the wind rushed through his hair, almost like it was playing with it.

“At the very least, the wind is on my side.” He said. Walking backwards up the hill, he eventually reached the Wind Farm. Covered in large towers with rotating heads along the top, the Wind Farm was almost a technological marvel. The whole system was so sufficient; there was no need for hundreds of maintenance workers to keep the field up to date. Aaron did that himself without any help, and he preferred it that way. His help came from the winds. Walking up to the broken tower, Aaron started the climb up on the narrow ladder. He knew just how to navigate so that he wouldn’t fall, and even if he did, he was sure the wind would catch him.

“This break is different than before…” Aaron said aloud to nobody in particular. “It broke along the head rather than a rotation joint. Someone must have tampered with it…” Lost in thought, Aaron started to replace the broken head and absentmindedly went about his work, doing checks along the narrow walkway if the blades would work properly now. Once he confirmed this, Aaron proceeded to walk down the stairs, the wind whipping at his feet.

“Careful now…” he said, warning himself. “Don’t need to fall at this height.” After a slow descent, Aaron reached the bottom and pressed a button, unlocking the blades from their stationary position. He placed his ear to the cold metal and heard the internal gears rotating. He looked up and was pleased to see the blades rotating as well. Smiling, he started to whistle and walk back towards his small Cabin where he would take a nap and continue to monitor the Farm from there. Before he could get there, his attention was caught by the wind yet again. It seemed to be pushing him away into another direction.

“What is this..?” he said slightly confused. “You usually follow me home, not push me away from it.” As if further reinforced by what he said, the wind began to forcefully push him away. Sighing, he started to go in the direction of the wind, following it like a lost child. The wind led him back up the hill into the Wind Farm where Aaron noticed an amazing site. The Wind was causing ripples all along the grass, rolling waves as they were called. This was a rare site to see, as the winds rarely cooperated with itself to allow this to happen. The rolls started to get larger and larger before Aaron realized they weren’t stopping anymore. He closed his eyes, spread his arms out wide, and braced for the impact of the waves. They rushed over him whipping his hair back, stinging his eyes and lifting him up. He became airborne as the wind began to rush over his body, letting him gain more and more altitude. Opening his eyes, Aaron gasped at the view he saw. The Wind had carried him extremely high up, high enough to see the entire fields, with rolling grasses.

“Incredible…” he said. A feeling of warmth enveloped him as if the Wind could read his thoughts. As the sun began to set over the horizon, the wind slowly started to drop in ferocity, allowing Aaron to glide down. Setting him down gently on the ground, the Wind started to gently nudge him towards his house, as if telling him it was time to go. Smiling as the wind wrapped around his body, he allowed himself to be pushed towards his small Cabin at the side of his Uncle’s mansion. Turning back around as he approached the door, he took in a deep breath and walked into his house. As he closed the door, he could have sworn he heard the Wind say “Goodbye Aaron.”

As the sun raised high into the morning sky, Aaron stumbled out of his Cabin and stretched. Walking towards his little Tool Shed, he opened the door and grabbed his maintenance belt. It was the first Saturday of the month, which means Maintenance Day.

Walking towards the Wind Farm, Aaron was greeted by a familiar friend. The Wind seemed to be overjoyed at Aaron’s arrival, and greeted him in a fashion only Aaron would understand. Whipping past him, the wind wrapped around him, and started to push him towards the Wind Farm, almost inviting him into its playground. Aaron chuckled with amusement as he was pushed towards the first of several Wind Generators, and started to perform maintenance on it.

Aaron’s Uncle decided to come out and pay him a visit while he was performing maintenance. Looking up at how high Aaron was, his uncle cupped his hands around his mouth and shouted to get Aaron’s attention. Aaron, being nearly 500 yards up in the sky, couldn’t hear his uncle. It was only when he looked down to his tool belt did he notice his uncle standing there, shouting up at him while turning more and more purple. Aaron laughed a little before standing up from the small platform. He walked over to the ladder and started the long descent down.

After reaching the bottom, Aaron’s uncle walked over to him, still breathing heavily from yelling so much.

“Can’t you hear a damn thing up there?” he asked slightly annoyed. “It’s like yelling at a damn wall!” Aaron cringed a bit, expecting his uncle to slap him over the head for not hearing him shout, but he didn’t. Instead, his uncle rested his hand on Aaron’s shoulder, leaning over, and took a deep breath before standing back up. He looked at Aaron in the eyes before continuing.

“Come back to the mansion.” He said. “You’re leaving that pitiful thing you call a house.” Aaron’s eyes widened in shock at what his uncle had just said.

“What?” Aaron asked, slightly confused. “Why? There’s no reason for me to leave my Cabin.” His uncle laughed when Aaron said cabin. It was quite obvious that his uncle did not think Aaron lived like he should, and wanted Aaron back under his little finger. Disgruntled, but unable to stop his uncle, Aaron just sighed and turned around before walking to the next Generator. His uncle just glared at him before turning around. As if feeling Aaron’s anger, the Wind practically slapped Aaron’s uncle in the face, blasting him with a large gust of wind. The force knocked him off his feet, and rolled him down the hill several meters. Getting back up, he looked in the sky with a little bit of shock.

“It’s like I pissed off the damn wind.” He said, thoroughly annoyed. At the same time, the very same wind was comforting Aaron, blowing through his hair gently. It was as if the wind could feel his anger and hatred towards his uncle and it was trying to comfort him. The warmth of the wind provided him with some comfort, but it wasn’t enough at that moment. The fact that his uncle was trying to take what was left of his little privacy and freedom away from him just pissed him off that much more. Walking towards the next Generator, he stumbled on a small rock and started to fall forward. The wind rushed underneath his falling body and pushed him back up. He smiled at the wind, feeling comforted that the wind wanted to keep him from harm.

“Thank you for that.” He said, wiping a tear out of his eye. He felt the wind blow gently across the tip of his nose, then across his body, pushing him forward slightly. It was reminding him that he had a job to finish. Smiling at the wind, he slowly walked towards the ladder of the Generator in front of him and climbed up it.

The ascent was rather uneventful for Aaron since the wind was his only company. It gently blew his clothes and hair around, leaving him slightly wind-blown. He pulled out a wrench and proceeded to tighten all the bolts on the machine when a sudden noise jolted him from his work. The entire pillar was shaking. Feeling alarmed, he tried to press a red panic button located on each of these machines. Apparently the button did what it was supposed to, as he saw his uncle’s round body running from the mansion. What he didn’t expect was the idiot was running towards the Generator instead of away from it. The wind was now blowing rather rapidly as the pillar became more and more unstable. A loud snap occurred and the pillar began to collapse on itself while falling down.

“Holy shit!” Aaron yelled out. “This is bad! I need to get out of here!” Looking forward, he quickly realized he had little to go with. The only route was jumping off. Taking a deep breath, Aaron jumped on to one of the rails and took a leap off. The rush of the wind flying past him brought tears to his eyes as the wind was almost powerless to stop his rapid descent.

“This is going to hurt…” he said to himself. The ground was rapidly approaching him before he noticed something. The wind was now rushing around him, going to a point on the ground. He looked puzzled at first before he realized what was about to happen.

“Oh God…it wouldn’t…” he muttered. Moments before he slammed into the ground, he felt it coming. The wind blasted into him from the ground in a final attempt to slow him down. Taking this opportunity, Aaron spread his clothes out to catch as much of the air as possible. This slowed his speed considerably, landing him on the ground with a still rather hard thud. He lay there for a moment before realizing he could still be in danger, or his uncle could be. Aaron slowly sat up and looked at the damage around him. The single Generator had fallen into another one, taking them both to the ground. Both pillars were completely destroyed. It would take months to rebuild them.

“Uncle?” Aaron said quietly. “No…” He got up and walked towards the rubble.

“UNCLE!” he shouted. There wasn’t a sound to be heard except the wind blowing around him. Aaron fell to his knees and started to cry.

“No…” Aaron said, the tears flowing from his eyes. “Why…why…WHY!” he shouted to the skies. The wind was quiet and unmoving as Aaron sat there, kneeling before the rubble, as if it was having its own silent prayer for him. Suddenly, there was a loud noise and someone was grunting. A rather large boulder was shaking and fell over with a loud crash and as the dust cleared, a rather large and round man stepped out.

“Why the hell are you crying boy?” the voice asked. Aaron looked up at the figure and recognized who it was.

“Uncle!” Aaron shouted before throwing himself into his uncle. The two fell backwards and rolled down the hill a bit. Even the wind, which had just ‘slapped’ Aaron’s uncle, seemed to be happy that Aaron was happy.

“It’ll take more than a damn collapsing Generator to kill me.” He said laughing. The two slowly got up and together, they walked back to the mansion and quickly called the hospital to get treated.

Chapter Two – The Sol Moon Base

When Solaris was found, initial scans pointed to the environment being a near replica of Earths’. What was unusual about it was the very fact of how close it was to Earths’ Environment. The odds of this reproducing in any part of the Milky Way Galaxy were astronomically high at best. The risk was made to allow twenty thousand people settle on the planet and observe them from the Sol Moons, while claiming to be defensive posts. Granted, they did have a good supply of ships and weaponry, but they weren’t outfitted for all out war. The Sol Moon Base on Sol I was developed to research the effects of this planet on people. The planet itself was classified as something different from the rest. The other planets were made up of soil and microorganisms, but this planet seemed to be different. That is what top military advisors had informed the USCF when scouting parties returned with news of this new planet.

As such, two moons were soon discovered orbiting the planet as well. These two moons were very similar, both in size and color. Thus, the names Sol I and Sol II seemed appropriate for twin moons. Sol I’s base was constructed shortly after discovery of Solaris as a means of researching the planet. Once the planet was ‘deemed’ safe by the military, twenty thousand people managed to get through to here.

Lead Tactical Researcher Lance Harlot sat in front of his technical display, reading the history logs of this station. The document he was just reading was talking in brief details about the history so far of Sol I, the base, and of Solaris. Much of the planet still remained a mystery, and so it seems the planet would refuse to give any of them up without a fight.

“Lance?” someone called out. He looked up as a young girl walked into his chambers.

“Oh, hello there Lucy.” He replied. “Why are you here?” She smiled and sat down on his bed before falling back and stretching out.

“I’m on break!” she said cheerfully. “So I thought I’d come see what my husband was doing while he should be on break as well.” He laughed and flicked off his display before standing up from his desk. Stretching out as well, he lay next to his wife and started to cuddle with her.

“Well, I was reading the history of Solaris again.” He said causing her to roll her eyes and start laughing.'

“That old thing again?” she said. “Why would anyone bother?” It was his turn to laugh.

“Well, something just doesn’t add up in it for some reason…almost like there’s a missing time period.” He said, scratching his head. She sighed and buried her head in his shoulder.

“You shouldn’t let such small details bother you, Lance.” She said. “We have an easy post out in the farthest reaches of the Galaxy, what more could we possibly ask for?” He smiled and kissed her on her head before pulling her closer. She let her hands rub up and down his spine, causing him to arch his back. He started to laugh as she increased the speed and intensity.

“S-st-stop that!!” he said in-between outbursts of laugher. “D-damn it! Lemme go!” He started to attack back by tickling her sides and the two ended up rolling off of the bed, landing on the floor with a loud thud. The two got up and stared at each other for a second before Lucy grabbed a pillow and wacked Lance in the face. He stared at her with bewilderment.

“Oh, it’s that mess again?” he said. “Do you really want to go there with me, the pillow fighting cham-“Another pillow was pushed into his face as he fell backwards with Lucy now sitting on his chest.

“Why yes, I do think I will go there.” She said, sounding very full of herself. By this point, Lance had gotten his hands free from his back and proceeded to tickle Lucy again. She squeaked and hopped off, leaving Lance free to get back up and grab the pillow.

“Oh no you don’t!” he said laughing. He started to chase her around the room before his computer started to beep. Freezing in mid-stride, he walked over to the computer and pressed the flashing button. A tactical read out screen started to appear and feed out data to him.

“What on earth?” he said. “There appears to be an anomaly in the planet’s surface and surface temperature.” He scrolled the data down to a map of the planet. One small area was glowing bright red, indicating massive heat dissipation.

“We should investigate that.” He said turning to his wife who started to pout.

“Maaaaaaaaaan! It was just getting fun too!” she said sounding like a little girl. He laughed and chucked the pillow back at her before dashing for the door.

“Keep the bed warm, I’ll be back shortly!” he said calling back at her. He heard her laughing as the door shut. He took off for the Command Center of the entire base, where he could get better tactical display of the report that came in.

Walking down the hallway, Lance greeted several other Moon Base workers with an enthusiastic smile before walking into the Command Center.

“OK!” He said with a booming voice. “What do we have that’s new?” A radar specialist motioned for him to come over to his station. Lance looked over at him and walked over, leaning over his shoulder.

“What’s up?” he asked. The specialist pointed to the screen.

“Abnormal wind movements over this island.” He said, pointing to an island near Osirus. “They appear to be blowing fiercely over this island, but the source of these winds is unknown. If anything, they should be going rampant over the Devils Islands.” Lance scratched his head before standing back up.

“I’ll dispatch a research team there and see what could be going on and causing the winds strange movements.” Lance said without taking a breath. He walked away from the radar station back to the main tactical display.

“Anything else on the agenda?” he said. Another radar specialist from another station waved him over. This one specialized in thermal activity of the planet.

“There is a buildup of heat over the oceans.” He said, sounding slightly concerned. “While this wouldn’t be a problem back on Earth, the ocean contents here on Solaris is freshwater, not saltwater. This could cause bubbling of the oceans and possibly Volcanic-type eruptions shooting up from the core.” Lance sighed and turned back around.

“Any suggestions?” Lance asked the specialist. He shook his head and turned back to his screen.

“Only thing we can do is to keep monitoring it.” He said. Running another scan, he noticed something different.

“Wait…this doesn’t make any sense.” He said. “The thermal activity has moved!” Typing rapidly on the screen, the display refreshed.

“The thermal activity has moved to the center of Lithuandar!” He said. “Volcanic formations are now at 50% possibility based on the pressure readings.” Lance leaned back over the display and could actually watch the thermal pressure and heat transition from nearly the entire globe to this one point.

“This can’t end well.” Lance said. “Evacuate all residents in the area near this buildup.” The base klaxons began to blare as everyone around Lance jumped into action sending both rescue and research teams down to the planet.

[Please note, a map will be uploaded when I get around to it....it shows what the planet looks like and where Aaron actually lives. But for your sakes, he lives on the very island where the winds are building up.]

Chapter Three – Arrival

Aaron walked out of his cabin carrying an apple. It was his morning snack since he had woken up to late to eat breakfast and needed to get to the Wind Farm.

The rubble from yesterday’s breakdown was still lying all over the field. Aaron just glared at the rubble, wishing none of it had happened. Shaking his head, he started to walk towards the remaining Wind Generators, thankful that none of the others shared the fate of the fallen ones.

“This is gonna be one nasty mess to clean up.” Aaron said absentmindedly. The wind seemed to be blowing about almost lazily when it picked up speed. Aaron seemed to notice its mood change.

“Something on your mind?” he asked it with a smile. A loud sound above him quickly alerted him that something was definitely going on. Throwing his head back and spinning around, he noticed what appeared to be some sort of USCF ship.

“What are they doing here?” He asked with mild curiosity. “It’s not like we did anything wrong here.” Ignoring the ship temporarily, he turned back around and held out his hands before letting himself fall back. The wind blew hard into his back and then moved lower towards his feet, making him completely airborne while lying flat on his back.

“Wh-whoa...” Aaron said keeping his eyes closed. “This is definitely something new.” He tried to focus on keeping his balance when a voice distracted him.

“Aaron!” someone shouted. Losing balance, Aaron quickly fell to the ground landing on his back. The wind seemed to have been startled by the sudden yelling.

“Aaron!” someone else shouted. Rubbing his back, Aaron sat up and turned his head around and noticed his uncle running towards him.

“What was that you were doing?” he said nervously. Aaron glanced behind his uncle and noticed two officers walking towards him, both with their weapons drawn. Aaron had never seen a military dress outfit. The fact that both the pants and the top were camouflage green with the giant USCF logo in the middle of it made it quite obvious what area they were from.

“Sir!” one of them shouted, keeping the weapon out. “Step away from the kid!” Aaron stood up and glared at the officer pointing the weapon at him before turning back to his uncle.

“What do you mean uncle?” Aaron asked. “I was just laying here.” His uncle seemed to laugh nervously and turn back around.

“See officer? It was nothing!” he said. “Nothing to worry about at all.” The officer seemed to think otherwise.

“We were sent down here to investigate unusual Wind disturbances.” He said briskly. “The odd behavior we just witnessed seems to match up with what we saw.”

Shit. Aaron thought to himself. I need to get out of here before something happens. He opened his arms and started to let himself fall backwards again. As if on cue, the wind started to blow fiercely, lifting Aaron up fast and pushing him back in an upright position. Floating in the air, Aaron looked down at the officers and his uncle, both staring at him in utter amazement.

“What the hell is this!” one of the officers shouted. The other pulled out a video camera and started to film where Aaron was. Noticing this, Aaron tried to rotate himself around. The wind seemed to be following what he wanted to do, and began to move him around rather erratically.

“Whooa, hey there! HEY!” Aaron shouted. “Don’t-throw-me-around-like-this!” The wind started to calm down a bit while one of the officers started to dial a phone.

“HQ?” he shouted over the wind. “We found the source of the disturbance…and you’re not going to believe this!” Aaron somehow managed to hear this and looked to the ground.

Set me down… Aaron thought hard. Just set me down gently. Aaron felt his body slowly begin to descend towards the ground. As he touched down, the two officers pulled out their guns again and pointed them at Aaron again.

“Don’t move!” one of them shouted, shakily aiming at Aaron. Aaron put his hands up and started sit down when the wind rushed past him, smashing into the officers. The force of the wind was enough to knock them down, roll over them and hit Aaron’s uncle who just fell to the ground and stayed down.

“What the hell was that?” one of the officers said to the other. They both got up and aimed their weapons at Aaron.

“Shoot to stun him!” one shouted. Taking aim at Aaron’s kneecaps, the officers fired one round each. Just before the bullets tore through his knees, the wind seemed to jump in front of him, forming a protective barrier. The wind was so condensed around his knee that it was visible. The bullets finally stopped trying to push through and ended up falling to the ground leaving Aaron completely unharmed.

“What the hell?” an officer shouted. “How did he do that?” They fired several more rounds but found them coming back at them instead. The wind had formed almost a vacuum for the bullets and routed them back towards the officers. They penetrated each officer in the throat, killing them both instantly. Aaron watched in horror as the blood started to pour out of their throats.

“What…?” Aaron whispered. “Why did you do that?” He glared angrily into the open sky.

“What did they do to deserve that?!” He said pointing to the dead bodies of the officers. The wind started to shake his head a little bit and then began to tug his shirt. For the first time in his life Aaron resisted the wind.

“No.” he said, the tears starting to stream down his face. “No…” He turned around and started to run. He didn’t care where he ran; he just wanted to run away from this.

Aaron knew without looking around that he was being followed by the wind. He knew that he shouldn’t stay mad, and he knew he’d forgive the wind eventually, but he didn’t want the two officers dead! Aaron kept running until he came to the edge of the Wind Farm. He had forgotten that the farm was up on a mountainous structure. He fell to his knees at the edge and let his tears fall down as the shock of what just happened started to pass over him. He even felt the wind blow around his chest, like it was wrapping its arm around him, trying to comfort him. He looked up to the sky again, eyes still filled with tears.

“Just…why?” he asked. “That’s all I want to know…” The ground beneath him started to crack as part of the cliff seemed to start to give way from his presence. He crawled closer towards the edge where the rock was at its weakest point.

“Why…” he asked again. Sitting back up, Aaron wiped his eyes and looked off into the distant sunset.

“Why…” he muttered. The rock below him gave away, and Aaron began to freefall towards the distant ground. He looked back up as he fell and noticed the cliff along the side. His mind wasn’t able to process what was happening as he was still in shock. Aaron’s body smashed into the ground below as the wind blew helplessly against his body, trying without any luck to revive him.
