[XP] Legend of Zelda 1 Remake

So, I've decided to look into the idea of remaking the original Legend of Zelda (the one for the NES) but I'm not sure how to go about it. I have a Zelda starter kit, but it seems pretty complicated to use (and it's all run via events). So, I wanted to see if anyone knew a way to get such a thing with scripts (and on top of that, I wanted to see if anyone could help out with the project by making graphics and such for it).

 

The game will have the same storyline, but it will be modified to include a bunch of things, like NPCs, an intro, and so on. Basically, I want to make it an upgraded game with all the stuff you could find in like...a Gameboy/Super Nintendo Nintendo game. I know I can do it, but I need help with it. I have to recreate all of Hyrule, and that's not an easy task...I'm not sure where to begin with that...Help anyone?

 

As a side note, if I can get the graphics...would anyone have a fit if I put in a gender option? :P

If this was an exact remake of the game (graphics, story, and gameplay,etc) I'd do it. However, I refuse to work on an 'upgraded' remake. It takes away from the original glory.

 

P.S. You make link blond instead of a brunette, and I will disown you. :P

I've never played the 1st Zelda but, since I am a really-good eventer, I'll go through the Zelda Starter Kit's event, see how it works and, hopefully, be able to help you with it. Can you give me a link to where you got the Zelda Starter Kit? I did a quick search on google but only found v0.5.

@Leon: I could make an exact remake, which would be the original with updated graphics, but that would be an "update" not a remake :P Also, I'm currently using the Minish Cap graphics, which are blonde. If someone wants to take them and turn them into character sets and make them have brown hair instead, you may feel free to. Unless someone can just make all the character sets themselves.

 

@Kiriashi: I basically just said it to Leon :P If you can recolor, that would help...I suck at recoloring...but otherwise, it's all Minish Cap graphics so far.

Why not find and use the Zelda 3 graphics? I know they are out there... I mean, most people disdain the minish cap graphics. (not a bad game, but the way the characters were drawn... eeeewwwwww) Anyway, at least then link isn't blond. Sure, it is a strange pinkish color, but I am so sick of seeing a blond link.

Cause I haven't managed to find any graphics from Zelda 3, and I can rip the graphics off of Minish Cap pretty easily ^^" Of course, if someone can find Zelda 3 graphics, I'd take them and use them (and maybe someone could just recolor Link's hair brown?)

Thanks, those tilesets helped a lot Leon ^^ I hadn't found anything over Google, guess I should remember to try Yahoo sometimes too (I never find anything on Yahoo). It still doesn't help with some things, though. I still need character graphics.

Nice, now I just need to put them into tilesets and character sets lol The other thing is whether they are the right size...I can't rip sprites off of ALttP cause they're the wrong size, so I'm worried these might be too. If they are, I'll have to do something else...probably use Minish Cap graphics, as they're the right size, then find someone to brown Link's hair. Dunno yet.

This could be better made in AGM. The battle system and graphics are the same of zelda. But i'm not good at AGM i'm just a begginer.

i have used the zelda starter kit and i dident like it ither so i tried making a new one with scripts and i would like to help you with your project i am using graphics from a link to the past at the moment i do not have the proper starting screen or a decent hud but i am working on those both
