Polraudio's Request; Small-Map Light System

How it's done:

Well, first off I'd like to thank Polraudio for making my dull day fun by giving me the most advanced eventing system I have made so far. Many of you may have seen that big light circle that stays in the center of the map in large, gloomy maps? If not, you can see what I'm talking about if you play my game; Alone. Anyway, its a picture programmed to stay in the middle of the map. But you cannot use this on small maps, e.g., 20x15 to around 25x20. Because it will just stay there without moving with the character.

Polraudio wants this effects for some of his maps but, sadly, has had the above error and he requested that I make a system so it works for small maps. This took 2 hours to create, but it is quite a work of art.

How it works is quite complex and you might want to open it up to see how it is done. I quadripled the size of the map, but not the size of the light. It uses 7 Common Events. One makes the picture move, one changes the variable to match where the player moves. One checks terrain tags and controls the other 4, which make it so the light doesn't move if the player is pressed up against an opposing wall.

Then we had to edit the map a bit. We added 4 new tiles, each one with the terrain tag of either 1, 2, 3 and 4. Then we placed it up against walls instead of the regular flooring. There is no graphical change but the tags tell the common events what wall it is being pressed up against.

Thats about it, really. It took a lot of work and some guess work. My first time working with terrain tags turned out to be a success :D .

Known Glitches:

Nothings perfect. With this; try to avoid the corners. Since you cannot overlap the terrain tags the light will keep on going if you press up against the walls.

If anybody, including Polraudio, finds this helpful please give me rep.

Oh, sorry I didn't see this earlier -facepalm-. I'll reupload it now. That's what I hate about 2shared, its always 100% but gotta reupdate the links every now-and-again.

the link is still broken. is it like where the light follows you or is it like that Alone game you made.

On my own I managed to accomplish this:
