ShinyToyGuns 29 Report post Posted June 19, 2010 It's under the "Other (cool components)" dropdown menu, next to "Tools & Utilities". I had a hard time finding it too when mark changed it :P
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted June 24, 2010 We should start a sponsorship for the site. The money can be used to make improvements to the site, advertisements, and to purchase items for contests!
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 24, 2010 What do you think we should offer to subscribed members? In fact we have 2. One paid $15 to become a life subscriber, and the other I decided to give for free.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted June 24, 2010 Here are some offer ideas. 1. Profile Music 2. Can sell their games on the site. 3. Their project will be featured on the site. 4. Unlimited messages

Knuckles 1 Report post Posted June 24, 2010 Popular or not, this is a decent community for users to participate in. From my understanding of RMXP Unlimited so far, all the important things for any given website is covered here. Popularity isn't relevant to the brilliance of this website. However, since I am new here there is a lot for me to discover on the site before I pull ideas out and toss them in the hat. In the meantime I'd say we continue holding interesting discussions that will ultimately drive in more members/activity, and expand our community. I registered on the forums for the quality of the community, not the knickknacks. An arcade may help retain the members this site already has, but is barely a selling point for new members. Unless someone will build exclusives for this arcade, it'll likely consist of off-the-shelf games from the module's official site like the countless forum arcades I've been to. Marked 197 Report post Posted June 25, 2010 Thanks for your post knuckles, you sound rather experienced with sites. I think the main thing we lack is game development activity. Back when I first got into RPG Maker forums on CA, every single person had a project, and most a project topic. There members regularly writing scripts, coming up with innovative eventing systems and spriting. At any rate, soon we will enter the anti-compeitive market of RPG Maker VX :D Speaking of subscribers, which at this point looks highly unlikely as the costs of the site are covered, I came up with an idea. I was just playing around on the website and was thinking of a better way to view the gallery images. So I wrote this thing which basically displays every single image in one of our category galleries. So say you're looking for images but don't want to go through the gallery pages in each category, you can load up this page which displays them all. Its useful however the total size of the images is over 50mb, that will murder our bandwidth.. So I'm think of making this a feature for members with 450+ posts. Or, if we ever get to the stage of subscribers, a subscriber feature. I'm just against the idea of getting money from members. A usergroup with exclusive privileges and permissions is certainly possible.
Agckuu_Coceg 5 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 I'm just against the idea of getting money from members. A usergroup with exclusive privileges and permissions is certainly possible. I am also generally against any additions, standing real money. Silly, yes, and deter many people from the forum. And as for additions to the permanent members of the forum - it would be wonderful. Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted June 30, 2010 We still never got a use for points, and a arcade would be a great idea EDIT: Also we could have it where at registration the new user is asked what is something that they would like to see in RMXPUnlimited. Off topic: Who owns RMXPUnlimited?

Marked 197 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 We still never got a use for points, and a arcade would be a great idea EDIT: Also we could have it where at registration the new user is asked what is something that they would like to see in RMXPUnlimited. Off topic: Who owns RMXPUnlimited? There will be something for points in the future. There's going to be a shop, and yeah hopefully I can setup the Arcade for award points. Also a Casino if they get around to making one for our software. I own RMXPUnlimited and I'm the original creator, why would you think otherwise? http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/index.php/about-us.html Marked when can you add an arcade? At the moment it's in Beta2, but has been for a month. I would prefer to wait for the first stable release, but if the members make a push for it, I can do it sooner. I would also need to test it before installing it here, I'm not 100% the beta version will work correctly.
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted July 1, 2010 No I've seen on other sites that if someone owned the site, they weren't Admins but "Site Owners" and had Admin priviliges.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 I also like to add that only members should be allowed to download game projects. We put in our hard work in these games for the community. Guest should not have any rights to download our projects that are on the site's download manager.
Marked 197 Report post Posted July 10, 2010 Only members can use the Downloads Manager anyway, that's the way its always been. Thats the only part of the site that an account is required to use, everything else guests can see. Sadly though the downloads manager is unstable and rarely allows members to upload projects of decent size.

FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 What I would like to know is what the leechers are downloading. They are mostly downloading scripts. We have over 11,000 members and over 20,000 downloads in xp scripts.
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 Its not like we have scripts that no one else does the most downloaded files are programs like facemaker
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 I noticed a few days ago that we do not have affiliates. We should get affiliations with other game making sites. Oh yeah I second that. And I was reading earlier post about changing the name, how about rmvxpunlimited?
Marked 197 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 Oh yeah I second that. And I was reading earlier post about changing the name, how about rmvxpunlimited? I mentioned this above. We went with RMXPUnlimited which is an engine-specific domain. RMVXUnlimited is the same, if enterbrain were to release another engine and VX died, then we would end up with the same issue. Although that's unlikely to happen while this forum is alive. Also, an engine-specific name does suggest we're engine specific, which of course, we're not. I can say with almost certainty that our next domain, if any, will not be an engine-specific name. Such as RMUnlimited. With affiliates, we have had a fair few in the past. RRR and rpgmakervx.net seem to have a nice anti-competitive collaboration going where they're making it harder for smaller sites to compete for members. Past affiliates either have died or not honored the affiliation by not having a link to our site. However I haven't been around other sites and suggesting affiliation, which I should do. Some sites do link to ours in useful links sections though. Any suggestions for sites we should affiliate with?
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted July 28, 2010 The current poll on the front page is outdated. It has been up for a year. May we have a poll manager to manage the polls and add new ones?

DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted July 29, 2010 That is just very strange No it isn't...Usually people are just looking for game resources, or looking for someone to answare theyr problems, then when they get it, they just leave. (people who are actually looking for a community, and to chat around/make friends/make games with them), actually will stay. Me= +1! yay
Marked 197 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 @Marked: I said RMVXPUnlimited, not rmvxunlimited, that way is both xp and vx. Yeah, same thing though right? Conveys we're about only XP and VX, which is kind of true, but restricts us to supporting more engines. Make sense? Here are a few sites I know of. RPG Crisis RPG Maker Core Spriters Resource I can't beleive that you would suggest RPG Crisis after they way they treated you. Seems like they manage to find their way here anyway before I ban them. I have nothing against the admin of RPG Crisis, but that site goes against everything that this one is against. I'll never be associated with them No it isn't...Usually people are just looking for game resources, or looking for someone to answare theyr problems, then when they get it, they just leave. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 I found it. It's in the first post. I think it is really great that more people are joining the forums at a faster rate! Over 100 people join last week. However, 100 new members have equaled zero new active forum members. I don't expect every member to be very active. However, no one out of over 100 is active. That is just very strange. I've never seen this before on any forum. We have cool members and a great staff. You shouldn't quote only part of a user's post Dark Gamer.

Marked 197 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 You see the buttons along the bottom-right of each post? You can click reply and it will take you to the post screen containing the persons quote. MultiQuote does the same but you click for each post you want to quote then click the Add Reply button to go to the post screen and all the quotes will be there. Speaking of members, so far we've no member validation meaning that anyone can register without needing to confirm their email address. I originally wanted to make it very easy to get an account here, but now it doesn't seem so important. I'll make email validation required and that should cap registers a wee bit. I still think the key to activity is having members doing something in the engines. Tutorials (apart from yours, Kiriashi) and RGSS Script submissions are becoming rarer. We may still get a few posts each day, but I've noticed recently they're the wrong kind. A lot of active members have started to drift into turning topics into spam and I think RMXPUnlimited has slowly started a culture of spamming. Though I think a few members have paid attention to my warnings. If we did turn into a forum like that, I'd shut it down.
DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 1, 2010 Well, i think i am a bit Spammer, but that's because i like to chat with people...And there's rarely people online on the chat...Even here...I wish there were actually more sociable people around...And yes, sending more material...I already did sent some of mine... Anyway, this could be alot more active...Maybe making some kind of New Contest...But as far as i see...No one does sign up, or if does, they won't do it when the time comes...
