Membership rapid increase and inactivity

Recommended Posts

I would go into scripting, but I dont know how. Anyone wanna be a teacher?

There are plenty tuts out there. The best way to learn a scripting language is to set yourself a goal, something you want to make happen in the code, and then try to do it.

This brings up a good point. When I say that there is little game development going on here I dont mean that I want our active members to start contributing. Looking at the big picture, members come and go and only a few are core assets to the site. So I mean when I say a lack of development is we do not attract members who have particularly good skills in spriting, scripting, etc. and who want to actively distribute their works on a site like this. Make sense? Hope that's not offensive to some of you guys, it's not supposed to be, its just one narrow view of it.

Speaking of members, so far we've no member validation meaning that anyone can register without needing to confirm their email address. I originally wanted to make it very easy to get an account here, but now it doesn't seem so important. I'll make email validation required and that should cap registers a wee bit.

I still think the key to activity is having members doing something in the engines. Tutorials (apart from yours, Kiriashi) and RGSS Script submissions are becoming rarer. We may still get a few posts each day, but I've noticed recently they're the wrong kind. A lot of active members have started to drift into turning topics into spam and I think RMXPUnlimited has slowly started a culture of spamming. Though I think a few members have paid attention to my warnings. If we did turn into a forum like that, I'd shut it down.

I hate it when sites do that. lol

I'm working on them, I just have to finish a few more requests, then I can devote most of my time to tutorials for a bit.

I feel that I'm to blame for this. It seems like its a trend that I started, or added to. I can be more strict from now on so we can clean up the forums.

Well, i think i am a bit Spammer, but that's because i like to chat with people...And there's rarely people online on the chat...Even here...I wish there were actually more sociable people around...And yes, sending more material...I already did sent some of mine...

Anyway, this could be alot more active...Maybe making some kind of New Contest...But as far as i see...No one does sign up, or if does, they won't do it when the time comes...

I'm actually working on a new contest for RMXP Unlimited, and I think it's going to be a lot of fun. I've got a good idea on how to get a lot of people to participate.

Leon's got some classes in the Training center.

Why? I have done this many times...see I even quoted the wrong part... :shifty:

In a month or so, I'll have a present for this site ready thats related to this. Right now I have to get maps done for three+ members here.

This problem is getting worse. I believe we had over 1000 new members in the summer and the the summer is not over year. Very few of these people are posting and taking part in the community.

Does anyone have any new ideas?

I've noticed some new comers on the homepage but that's all I see of them. I agree with Broken. Anyone who hasn't logged in at least 3 times or posted at least 3 times should be deleted.

Why? What is wrong with having a high member count? I mean how is it harmful? Its not exactly beneficial, but its not doing any harm.

Why don't why just focus on getting them to use their accounts.

I recently enabled email validation to reduce less serious accounts, but our daily registration count is still pretty high.

Uppen the limits. Force them to at least make 1 post and only give them access to the welcome forum till they do so.

Make guidelines to follow and if they dont follow them for that 1 post lower it back to 0 for them.

You want them to at least do some more work so they can steal resources.

Forcing people to post is not a good idea. It puts bad vibes into people. We as a community should work hard to make people gain interest in this site to post and take part in this community.
