Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 Hebi's Event Starter Kit ATTENTION This starter kit is underdevelopment and the forums description (that I posted in) said to post any project and so here is my project topic for my Event Starter Kit. THIS IS UNDERDEVELOPMENT; so please don't ask for a download link! Name: Hebi's Event Starter Kit Software: RPG Maker XP Type: Starter Kit Subject: Events Intro You probably have seen these before, but it was called a Event System. This Starter Kit is being developed to contain not just the basic type of events, but to take eventing to a whole new level. After all if you have used RPG Maker XP than you know how to create a chest that stays open even if you leave the map. You also know how to create a locked door or chest. But what else can you do with a chest; from switches to variables both can be used to create and harness the power of events. This starter kit will show you not just how to make a chest that stays open after the player has opened, or show you how to create a key to unlock a door with switches, but we will also use variables as well. Will also dive head long into Conditional Branches and even swim around in events in a pre-determined battle. Well aggravate the gods when you learn how to make your NPCs a little more real by using switches and variables. The titans will cry when we show you an advanced look into using items with variables and switches. But most of all, by the time this starter kit is finished and you have messed with it you will be a god among us Eventers... COMING SOON!! ---Hebi Kumo
Tomo2000 60 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 Sounds awesome, man. But just scrolling through page after page of events won't make you a eventing god, it might teach you a bit. But then memorizing it is another thing; memorizing somebody elses system. For a trully unique game you would need your own systems, but this would be a huge leap in the right direction and, also, get rid of quite a lot of common questions on forums about such things. You know what, due to this writers block I havn't been able to work on any of my projects due to the lack of ability to continue on the storyline. If you want eventing systems of any sort from beginners to master. Also, use a lot of commenting to explain in detail how the event works. You should sort the maps in sections. For example; have a main map called 'Beginner', for example, then have maps in that like 'Eventing 1 - Whatever", etc.. So it would look like this: -Beginner --Map001 --Map002 etc.. Just remember to name the maps accordingly :D . Hope I was of some help and can help with your project. Hope to hear from you soon.
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 Well the writing was for dramatic purposes. And there is only going to be 3 maps, but they are not based on beginner, novice, etc. You are out side of a castle which is the main map and there are 2 sub-maps(both hidden rooms). You will not learn anything from playing the Event Kit as the characters give little to any information regarding how something works or what it does. The real purpose behind the kit is its edibility so the user can simply look at how to do it. I see no reason behind explaining what a Switch is as this is a Kit rather than a tutorial so it is not needed.
