Marked 197 Report post Posted January 3, 2010 Yeah I've be meaning to go see it at the movies. I have heard a lot about it because the graphics were done by WETA studios, a company in New Zealand. And of course nothing else happens here, so it was on the news.
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted January 4, 2010 I've seen Avatar. It's quite good, but it's one of those movies where you really have to like the type of genre to enjoy the movie. If you look closely at the way the plot is structured, you start to notice that the movie is kkind of a bit of a mashup of Halo (the style of the humans ships, one of which looks exactly like a hornet.), Eragon (mental bonds between animals and nature.) and Colonisation (speaks for itself)

Marked 197 Report post Posted January 4, 2010 When his brother is killed in battle, paraplegic Marine Jake Sully decides to take his place in a mission on the distant world of Pandora. There he learns of greedy corporate figurehead Parker Selfridge's intentions of driving off the native humanoid "Na'vi" in order to mine for the precious material scattered throughout their rich woodland. In exchange for the spinal surgery that will fix his legs, Jake gathers intel for the cooperating military unit spearheaded by gung-ho Colonel Quaritch, while simultaneously attempting to infiltrate the Na'vi people with the use of an "avatar" identity. While Jake begins to bond with the native tribe and quickly falls in love with the beautiful alien Neytiri, the restless Colonel moves forward with his ruthless extermination tactics, forcing the soldier to take a stand - and fight back in an epic battle for the fate of Pandora.
