Re-Integration!

Recommended Posts

RMXPUnlimited is now (once again) bridged with the website. This simply means that you can login to the website using your forum account.

In August when we upgrade the forum the bridge was broken and members were no longer able to login to the website. This is because the upgrade was a complete rewrite of the new software, meaning new framework and functions etc. making the bridge useless.

This is quite an achievement as well, I'm not sure any site with the same software has this kind of integration. I spent the last two days reading documentation and studying code, and to my surprise, I was able to upgrade the original bridge to work with this version of the forum software.

At the moment, perhaps this may seem a bit useless. This is nothing in particular that a member can on the website that a guest cannot, but this well definitely change. The great thing about this integration is that you actually have a full website account and all the functions that go with it. I was waiting for this bridge to finally happen so I can start development on my components from the RMXP Unlimited in 2010 topic. These components will allow you to submit content (such as RGSS Scripts, Projects & Reviews) using your account, and they will be displayed using a CCK component(for example, the individual script items in the scripts archives).

Also note that logging in and logging out are very slow at the moment. I think the reason for this is that all the member accounts are being synced to the website, and there are a lot of accounts to sync. So it should be temporary.

I will be modifying the login module soon on the website to display some of your account details(posts, PMs, avatar, etc.).

We need help to ensure that this integration is stable. If you encounter any login related issues on the forum or website, please report them here in this topic.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, it seems like the really slow login is an error in the script. I'm not sure how to fix it at this point, but I'm going to be looking into it...

A little update, the login module is taking form:

All the links are conditionary. If you a new Personal Message, the link will show up, otherwise it will be hidden. Similarly if you have an album or a blog, the links will show up there.

EDIT: I have disabled the login sync to prevent the lag on login. As far as I know, all the member accounts are synced, and members who register from now are synced on registration, so this shouldn't make a difference.
