Milestones

With such a fuse around this franchise it may be hard to know the milestones that has in a good way plagued Final Fantasy. The legend was born in 1990 and was released on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) when Square Soft was on the tip of bankruptcy. In 1991 they released Final Fantasy II for the SNES (Super Nintendo Entertainment System) and was the first to use a system that is now widely used in most modern day RPG games; The Active Time Battle System adds the element of real-time control during combat. And who can forget when Sephiroth killed Aeris in Final Fantasy VII which devastated players and scored countless of rumors that she has survived and would return.

Just how good are you at Tactics because in 1998 Final Fantasy Tactics was released and was unique because of the Chess like battle system. Strategy played a role in this battle system and if you made the wrong move, game over. In the past Square Enix used a simple message system to tell the story, but in 2001 Final Fantasy fans were introduced to the first Final Fantasy game that used vocal performances in Final Fantasy X. Final Fantasy took a dive as they created a game that would be the first Final Fantasy games on a Microsoft platform. Final Fantasy XI was also the first online MMORPG, but of course was not popular as its offline cousins.
