formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 Well, the time is finally here. RMXP Pool v2 is finally at the beta stages in development. This release is not meant to be entirely stable, as I'm looking for bugs inside the program as a whole. Currently, (to my knowledge) all features work as they should, but there might be incidents where the program locks up, crashes, or does something unexpected. Current Features: Automatically Updates Database (Can alter settings to not do this) Downloads preview images and cache's them to prevent additional downloads. A full fledged Bug Report Generating System (might have initalization errors somewhere). Clean interface. Prevents you from downloading the same item twice. Like I said, this program is only a beta release, and things might change at a later date. This is really for bug fixing, but I really want you guys to enjoy the program. Current (known) bugs: Changing the download directory doesn't move the contents of your current one. Some settings may not save/load properly. The program occasionally crashes on startup (unknown reason) Evil Cabbage reported some errors with downloading preview images. The Terms button for the Scripts sometimes crashes the program, also unexplained (only affected cabbage so far) You can download it here, or the attached zip file. formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 Thanks Pol. You did mention to me that the Download Location couldn't be changed (Don't know why, thought I added the code), so I'll look into that.

miguel1 17 Report post Posted January 14, 2010 just a minor error i found: in the script section, the "final fantasy menu" has the description of the "end credits" Also the rmxp pool suddenly stops when i press "term" on the "Sandfall character pack" in the charas section. formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 The Final Fantasy Menu error is not mine, it comes from the database, which is evil cabbage's job. I'll be sure to inform him. I just checked the INI's on each and they're exactly identical... As for the terms..that one is quite straightforward. This is also a database error, because the terms file "10.txt" never existed, so the terms has nothing to load from. Two database errors...interesting. I'll leave cabbage a message about them, probably a typo because it looks like it should be "11.txt" rather than "10.txt". Thanks for that!
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 Sandfall Character Pack: Strange, the .ini seemed fine and I downloaded it and this also worked correctly. Not sure what's happening there. Final Fantasy Menu: Fixed. Thanks for the bug report. If you have trouble downloading the database through the program (like I did), then if you want me to I can teach you how to update the db manually, if required of course. Random_Guy5507 0 Report post Posted January 15, 2010 Interesting Program you've created. Downloaded and installed by the way RMXP poll has some pretty annoying bugs however is Beta, so nevermind take your time and the person responsible for the database; Fix that database Problem Please
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 What are the annoying bugs? Are they the database bugs or physical program bugs?
Random_Guy5507 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Well First bug I found was the database error, the category select and the Program crashed several times
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Hold on, are you saying that the program is crashing when you click on a category? If it is just crashing when you click on a category, then it is most likely a bug with the program. Go into your RMXP Pool root folder. Is the database actually in there? (It will be stored in two folders "Terms" and "Files"). If you use the program and the database is not in there, then it means that the database is not downloading for you (and I'm not the only one who gets that problem!) The fact that the database is not there then causes the program to crash. So is it ever there? If it is not, I can explain how to manually insert the database if you want. If this is not the problem and the database does download, then could you please describe your problem in more detail.
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Oh, what is the database problem?
Random_Guy5507 0 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 Don't Worry Evil Cabbage... I just deleted the program and I extracted again and it runs great
formlesstree4 18 Report post Posted January 16, 2010 The fact that the program doesn't always download the database is not my fault, nor is it in my control. It just depends on your Internet. If the download times out, I can't do anything about that at this time. I haven't devised a system that can check to see if the connection timed out. I'm hoping that the next release will be much more stable in terms of error handling, so forgive me for how it handles them (or the lack of handling) at this time. Keep the feedback coming guys, I want to make the next beta as stable as possible.
