DevCentral WIP

Recommended Posts

RPGMakers Forum, an Affiliate of RMXP Unlimited had a great run, but it has died. Me and pirate have been plotting and scheming now, for what seems a year, to bring to you, the new era of "RMF"...

DevCentral will not be centered purely around RPGMaker anymore, but instead now offers a large range of Indie developing, whether it be a click based program, or custom programed in any language. Even if you are not a member of the site, you may submit your game to have its own "page" and a download mirror free from us. Game size is not an issue, as we are being hosted, courtesy of Netik (netik-digital.com), and are allowed Unlimited everything.

anyways, now for the juicy part, lol, the design in progress:

Possibly. I will be going over all of the colors when I get back to it, so I'll see if a diff color for those boxes will fit.

wrong. Its for all engines, including RPG Maker. No engine specifically will be a focus, just development in general.

Oh, well this: "but instead now offers a large range of Indie developing,"

Made me think it >.<

Sorry lol

EDIT:

When will the site be up? :)

There is no possibly, you already have to much of one color.

dude, youre a freakin nub compared to me, Im pretty sure I know how to theme a site off of a color, and these colors are a good theme fit, not too much of one color. I dont want a dang rainbow streaked across the page. the only problem I see is the darker shades of blue being a bit too unsaturated and dull, other than that, its not too much of one color. I really have a hard time getting along with you specifically. youve got a superiority complex goin on, and its just not appreciated.

Hey hey hey now, no need to start a flame war.

No matter how he expresses it, even in a grim way, The Hooded Man is giving his opinion. Just take it into account, and move on. Calling someone a noob is completely unnecessary.

The site looks pretty snazzy!

It was just critique (my opinion). And as per your noob comment, no I'm not, been designing and making sites since I was 13. And yes I have had people make the same comments about a few of my designs as I did yours. It got an emotional response from me (like I did with you) and they told me to grow up. So now I pass this advice to you.

It does have to much of one color in a single location. It looks good (even I would use it), but its a color issue here. Sorry if I came off as blunt with the truth (I know what its like to hate someones comment; truth or not), but a s a designer you should be open to hear it all and respond in a business like manor.

really though, Ive been doing it since I was eleven. I do not need to grow up, I had a professional web designer as a "teacher" growing up. I know my theory, I know a good scheme, and Im fully aware of content over design. It really is no color issue, the site was designed to have faint boxes for an easier, flowing feel from one area to the next. its for the idea of content management, not an overall flashy design. If the content boxes stick out too much, its the boxes that catch the attention, not the content. the idea here is to have the content stick out the most for informative reading, not a rainbow of splashes.

Well not to start or cause an argument, but yes you do need to grow up. All I said was "There is no possibly, you already have to much of one color." and you responded with emotion and even attacked me by saying I am just a noob when you have no real concept of what I can or can't do. Even with 13 years experience I find some people still give me critique on my web designs. When I first started I responded to peoples critique just as you did, emotionally and as if I knew what I was doing, thus why the advice given to me was to grow up. There is no point in responding emotionally because at heart you disagree with what someone has said about your works. You take it with a grain of salt and move on, something I learned. We as designers gain nothing from ripping each others throats out. ANy way on to more detail:

really though, Ive been doing it since I was eleven. I do not need to grow up, I had a professional web designer as a "teacher" growing up.

I had no teacher I taught myself and then took a class in Web Design (associates degree; at the Art Institute). Decided to take class to further my experience and mature (by taking critique from a teacher and other students).

I know my theory, I know a good scheme, and Im fully aware of content over design.

I know what I was taught and am aware of content over design. And if you want to play this game your theme is to flashy for content over design.

You can still change something about them to make the flow of color not SOLID. I did not say to add a rainbow effect or make the boxes white (both would make the box stand out). Brighter colors catch peoples attention, perhaps you need to go the other way and make them a lesser color of what they are already or use a color that matches the color you have.

you sir, are getting on my nerves. if you think youre so educated, show your designs instead of insisting on continually telling me to grow up. I too was self taught until I found the "teacher" and all he taught me was a few design tips and tools, and then CSS. I have not taken a class, as I do not need to further an skill, and Im not lookin into it for profession. Im also 17 years old. try that out for skill. Im not boasting, but Im a lot better than most people out there who are older, and have taken classes for such things. sure, maybe my teenage maturity took over a bit in this thread, but that being said, I am still a teenager with more skill than most adult web designers will ever have.

I'm getting on your nerve because you can't take critique. As for telling you to grow up you only further prove you need to by acting like a child (after all I said more then just to grow up and that is all you took from it). Well nice to meet you 17 year old (you started at age 11 which comes to 6 years experience). Since you want to play this game I'm 26 years old with 13 years experience (started when I was 13 years old). And cockiness will get you know where, but since you asked I have no problem posting my works.

I sincerely dont mean to be rude, but I took your attitude from your posts from all over the forums, and you were being a complete jerk off to others, and so when you posted in my thread, with nothing to back it up with, I took it as you being an idiot. As for taking critique, I dont take any from anyone, unless I am aware of their skill level and think that they actually know what they are talking about. I had no image on your background, and thus conclude you to be a noob in the area. You also posted it in a jerk tone. Saying, "There is no possibly" which made it seem you were telling me a direct order in what to do. You took the wrong approach in the first place, not me. I apologize for my rudeness, but I expect one from you as well. This went too far overall anyways.

That being said, and all should be well now, Really, Im 17. compare me to say, 25 year olds with class backings. I am, to a considerable chunk, better than some, and I picked it all up on my own.

Much better. Perhaps I was a little harsh here and through out the forums, but we all have our flaws; no ones perfect. Any way working on my deisign...started as a simple home page and now I like it so much I'm making it my site template for one of my sites. I'll post it in a seprate topic when ready; its good we designer take opinions from other deisngers (keeping in mind what one says is just their opinion).

So any updates on this?

yeah, the update is that I scrapped it, and will be doing the whole site in pixel art, which was the original plan. I am, however, workin on a different site for my hosting/design "business" that I will post in a diff thread once I have a page fully designed.
