absinthelord 0 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 A while back I created a template called Chai, but I didn't have time to work on it too much. With it being so cold here in NY, I decided to take some time and improve the template and produce some tilesets and autotiles: Working on expanding these. Use with permission only, please... :)
Chief 30 Report post Posted February 9, 2010 Theres a problem with the tree shadows. having them black, and then setting black as the semi transparent color is an issue,a s you have black in other areas of your tiles. I suggest using the same color the original RTP uses for their tree shadows and such. otherwise, great stuff here. I really enjoy your grass and ground tiles. Yeah, I really hadn't decided on the shadow color so I left it for now. Actually, it isn't really black but just a touch off of black (R=8 G=8 B=8) so I wouldn't have any black details semi transparent. Now that you mention it I would like to see what the RTP shadow color looks like on here. Thanks for the feedback! EDIT: The RTP shadow color didn't quite look right, so I tried the shadow color from a Breeze tileset and it looks a bit better. Here's a screenshot:
Chief 30 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 Its a bit too dark in my opinion. If I were you, just take the shadow color from the original RMXP rtp, it tends to fit perfectly.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 I love the shadows! You did great on this ;) +rep!
Chief 30 Report post Posted February 17, 2010 No, theyre too dark/blue to look anything natural, comparing to the rest of the tiles.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted February 18, 2010 I honestly don't see anything wrong with them :( Except maybe the chopped tree's shadow. It has a shadow as if it still had it's stalk and leaves C:
Chief 30 Report post Posted February 18, 2010 no really, compared to what they could be, they really are a bit too dark/blue.

Chief 30 Report post Posted February 18, 2010 Alright you guys, take it coming from a pixel artist himself, and one who does art a ton, they really are too dark and too blue. Its not an opinion, its a statement of their contrast to the outlaying tiles.
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted February 18, 2010 I honestly see no blue in the tree shadows though >.> I'm probably color blind... :>

As a fellow pixel artist, help me out. May be a wee edit to illustrate? Thanks for all of the feedback!
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted March 2, 2010 This looks really good. I don't see the shadows being a problem at all. I love original work. Please keep it up! :alright:
