Marked 197 Report post Posted February 18, 2010 I am announcing the first release of the Hall Of Fame component. This has actually been a big project of mine which started at the beginning of the month, but obviously hasn't been worked on in the last week. I rushed it along so I can release it today, so I will only add requested stats modules from now on. Despite its simpleness, the code of this is one of the smartest I have written. Each module consists of all the same attributes built from a single function. So the modules are 60+ lines of coding each, and replicated for each module. This component is dedicated to the legends of RMXPUnlimited, and all the rest of our loyal members. It has some cool features, mainly for members who are logged in. Here is a typical stat module: I have highlighted all the main features of this one. You see the little icon on the top-right corner? This means that you get points towards your Member Effectiveness value(a misleading-titled variable which I'll explain further into the post). This symbol is only shown on the modules where Usernames are displayed, but I have disabled it in some modules to make things fair(for example, in the Top X First Members module). Now down at the bottom it shows me my ranking in the module. Its a little useless for me as I can see it in the module, but this is useful for members who cannot see their ranks inside the module. To save on loading time, only members who rank within the top100 places will have their rank displayed. Another cool feature in this component is that you have options of how many ranks to show. The default is 10, but there are options at the top to show 5,10,20 and 50. You can actually show how ever many you like by altering the URL. For example: breakpoint=100 will display 100 records. At the bottom of the page you will see a nice big shiny number, this is your member effectiveness value. You get points from each of the stats modules(remember, only ones with the little symbol in the top-right corner) depending on your ranks. The amount of points you get increases exponentially as your rank increases. For example, rank 100 and 99 and almost the same. But rank 1 is a bit less than double the points of rank 2. Make sense? Of course it does. Its quite a handy formula, I can choose how exponentially the points increase. Its also impossible for anyone to calculate anyone else values, which is good because I think they should remain private. The last thing to explain is the User Title, which is at the very bottom of the page. This is based on your average points per stats module, so the member with the highest member effectiveness value does not necessarily have the highest average(and in fact I know that this is the case). The ranks are amazing(exclusive to the top 3 highest ranked members), Great(top 10), good, average and newbie. However, this is not completely accurate, but I think its a cool feature. Special thanks to evil cabbage, Polraudio and miguel1 for their suggestions for stats modules. If you guys would like any added, this is the place to suggest them. Although I can only add things that are stored in the database, so I cannot fulfill every suggestion. Hope you guys like it :) PS: Check out this announcement on the homepage... Of course everyone noticed this, but now we have bbcodes on the site.

Marked 197 Report post Posted February 19, 2010 lolz, I didnt expect Pirate to be on there. According to the stats, RMXPirate is 12th member registered(but members have been pruned in the past). He used to be an active staff member here, and there are actually quite a few members we'll never see again high on the lists. I really like it. This place just keeps getting better. :) I have a bunch of ideas. Thanks to isaacsol I'm starting my super secret advancedly integrated CCK powered project. I may talk about it in my blog some time... 157.6 - Amazing. ^_^ Haha, you're so proud arn't you? There are 3 others that are around that number, but that gap between no.4 and no.5 is large. And there's no way I'm telling you mine :P

Marked 197 Report post Posted February 19, 2010 Well to be honest, I can actually decide what the Member Effectiveness value is because i can choose which stat modules give you points, and how many points each rank gives you from those modules. I have made it so rank #1 gives you heaps of points. The points gap is like this: 1-----2----3---4--5-6. During the development of this, 3 members have had the highest member effectiveness value while I changed the formula, added modules, etc. Not that you guys even know who no.1 is anyway :P
