Making FFVI Tilesets! :D

Recommended Posts

Ger, I think Google hates me >.>

Okay, I tried searching using Google, but I can't seem to find out how I would go about ripping sprites from games. Like Megaman, Zelda, Pokemon, Final Fantasy (old games) or maybe even sprited Digimon games. I'm trying to make a compiled zip of tilesets for FFVI, Zelda and Digimon that also has the characters....

I searched up software and everything and still can't find it...anyone know how?

:D

(Assuming you want GBA sprites)

Well first download the rom for the game.

Now download visual boy advance.

There should be a tools section that can rip sprites on the screen for you if I remember correctly...

Visual does that? Lemme check....

Hm....I see the tools, but the only one that allows me to save anything is the map view, which saves a screenshot of the current map >.>

Most people rip sprites directly from screenshots or videos taken with the screen in game-time. Some use special unpackers (search for them in the same Google).

Special unpackers? Is that what they are called? :(

I would like to be able to rip the tilesets as well as sprites so people could use the village tiles and stuff >.>

On Gba such unpackers seemingly no, there is only Nes, Snes and Sega Mega Drive.

On Gba need to act on that principle, which indicated Kiriashi.

Running rom and turn off unnecessary layers (ctrl +1.2.3 etc.), yet there will be required sprite. Now, when the desired object on a black background you want to enable video recording in the emulator.Save it in uncompressed *avi.

Next turn on Gif Movie Gear or InfanView and extract all the frames in *.png or *jpg.

Looking needed, delete unnecessary.

Try another search here.

Oh....I have to record a video and make a gif out of them? :<

If that's the case, I should just sprite them myself >.>

Isn't there a easy way? :(

Oh, well I was kinda hoping to create tilesets for FFVI and a few other games. Like this:

But all the sites only have ripped maps, like this:

Convert them? If I take screenshots and build the sprites of with Gif animator, that that might work for sprites. But how does VBA rip tilesets fromt he game?

I don't know how to convert the sprites for you. However checkout the video game resource gallery on this site because there are some Final Fantasy character sets and battlers you may like.

I don't need the characters :D

I need the map tilesets. Like, in this example, of Figaro, Narshe, Mobliz and Kefka's tower. Tilesets. Well, I tried it Kiriashi's way and this is what I got.

But how do I use thoses? How would I use the autotiles?

(Sorry for the double post, but I got a bit of information before they stopped answering...)

Okay, someone on another forum said that I had to make each tile 32x32. Does anyone know what I have to do after that? This is what I have so far...

Yes...but my problem is understanding how to convert this (click) to look like this (click) so it works in XP.

EDIT:

Forget it ^.^

I found out how. I just need testers and advice from now on.

Bump for for the goodies! :)

Okay, this is what I got so far :) It works too! But I need to know if there are any see-able errors in the graphics, anyone wanna test it for me? Also, now I just need to figure out how to make the "AUTOTILES" out of the FF6 tiles.

If anyone would like to test what I have, here is the file.

Ignore the red and green, as I just for right now, needed to remove the colors around the tree. The plants and grass should work. If you see any errors, could you tell me about? Also, I just need to find out how to make the "Autotiles" now.

:D

So, is it good testers? :P
