Marked 197 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 This is topic is for voting on whether to keep the forum sidebar or to remove it. The topic is labeled referendum because the result of the poll will decide whether the sidebar is kept or not. Personally I don't particularly like the sidebar, it takes up too large of a chunk from the forum index. It is also a distinguishable feature of the forum software, and I like to be far away from default. Also if the sidebar were to be removed, the status box will be relocated. 1 Kiriashi reacted to this
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 This is the sidebar, right? If so, I'm voting no. I like being able to see recent posts so I can reply quickly. However, it would be cool if you came up with a better way to display recent posts, in which case you should remove it. And get in the chatroom!
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 Please keep the sidebar. It shows recent posts, blogs, and topics. How will we know when you make a new blog post Marked?
ShinyToyGuns 29 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 Nein, I don't think it should be removed...I also like to see when a new post is posted, etc.
Marked 197 Report post Posted March 13, 2010 Every module in the sidebar can be recreated. And as for new posts, there is an identical new posts module on the homepage, and a global "new content" button in the header. And by the way, the recent posts is only in the sidebar for the benefit of guests. I do think it makes members lazy and causes them to miss posts, but I think its necessary for the guests to have to navigate. But yeah, it is up to you guys. Oh and I think that the user panel I'm currently working on will help too. Here's a preview:
