evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 The other day, I want to the cinema with someone I know to see a movie. As we went in, this person made a comment about the ages of the people who were watching the animated movie that was being shown in the next theatre (How to Train your Dragon). The people going in there were mostly teens, aged between about 12-17. In the opinion of the person accompanying me, these teens going in there were "too old" to watch an animated/children's film. This made me ask myself the question: Is there an "age" where children should not watch shows aimed at children and only watch things that are either non-fictional or more "serious" and "realistic"? Personally I disagree, as just because a film is animated does not mean that it is aimed at very young children. Personally, I stopped watching and playing most kids shows and animated films and games when I was about 12 (I was influenced), but I would like to hear what other people think on whether there should be a "cutoff" point for these types of films. I have added a poll.

Dark Den 4 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 I don't think that there should be a cut off point. The movie 'up' was a non fiction animated movie for all ages and 50 year old guy i know liked it.Animated and reality movies are both the same. The only diffrence is how everything is shown. FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 Let people watch what they like. It is silly to have a cut off point to watch kids movies.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 I think it depends on the film. Seriously do you watch Dora The Explorer when your 20(Better say no)? Yea it depends on the film and not so much on age.
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted April 6, 2010 well what about Spongebob Squarepants? That show is full of multilayered jokes e.g. Spongebob was watching "Sponge Porn"
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted April 7, 2010 I agree with Pol, but many people don't realize that many of these animated movies are actually aimed at 9-14 year olds anyway. It seems that many adults have a pre-conception that any animated or cartoon film is made for really young children, therefore older people should not be watching it. Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted April 7, 2010 I know Biker dudes who still think Bugs Bunny is the sh!t. My dad is in his 50s and he watches cartoons like: Anime, X-men, loony toons, etc. I'm 26 and still watch cartoons (but I draw a line at Bob the Builder...to young for me).
