Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 If you could have any rpg remade using today's graphics which game would you choose? Personally, I would choose the cliche, Final Fantasy 7.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 8, 2010 Drakengard. Anyone who has played that game, I feel, would agree that the game wasn't very good - at the very least average. But it did have a lot of potential. I know it's only last gen, but I'd like to remake it with better graphics, more dialogue and expanded story, and I'd also like to convert it into more of a strategic action-rpg. Leon 55 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 It was more of an action/rpg (more on the action than rpg) sidescroller, but Faxanadu for the NES would make an excellent remake.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 Final Fantasy 6 is just screaming for a remake! It is one of the best games of all time. The remake would be a hit!
Dark Den 4 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 i'm thinking of DBZ or pokemon *sorry for being childish*

That's one I haven't heard of before. I need to look that one up. I'm surprised no one has said chrono trigger yet. Though it's another cliche it is still an extremely good game. Lol den, I love pokemon games and I'm no child. But they did remake gold and slver versions. Which are good games

Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 I don't like it but itmakes sense. If I had made a game, I wouldn't want other people making money off of it.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 9, 2010 I would just license them the game and collect royalties.
Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Now that's a smart idea. Of course they would have to make sure that the story, characters and everything else remains unaltered. But think about it this way, say you did license them the game and it was a horrible remake with several glitches and all around poor quality, then they would have to deal with an unnecessary blow to their reputation. People will associate the remake with them even though they didn't make it.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Yes, our coin term for the day is "Selective Licensing" children.
Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 10, 2010 Haha indeed. You would have to be very selective. Although, if you found a trusted company to do it then it would be an excellent venture. You wouldn't have to pay for any ingredients or spend time cooking and still get a piece of the pie.
Decadenttia 2 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 Final Fantasy VII of course. (and my vote to Faxanadu!)
Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 Ha ha another final fantasy 7 vote. Which I've heard a rumors that they are going to remake it and I've also heard that they aren't. Does anyone know for sure?
BlitZ++ 2 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 I read on the Wiki that there wasn't originally but in 2010 Square Enix decided to "think" about it. I heard it ages ago, i just thought it was another rumor really.
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 11, 2010 Blitz is correct, they made a PS3 tech demo remake of the classic opening. Sparking most ignorant rumors of a FF7 remake. Up until a month or so ago, they continued to release press interviews stating they aren't doing it, but they would like to. Now they are seeing if it is feasible. Though I would prefer they do not. Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 12, 2010 I see. I wonder what will become of it. Why don't you want them to do it, Arkbennett?
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 I'm going with my FAV RPG: The Legend of Dragoon.
Phelix 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2010 I've heard of that one but I've never played it. It sounds like a good one. What system was it for?
Decadenttia 2 Report post Posted April 14, 2010 Legend of Dragoon was an rpg game for PlayStation, with a really good story and some awesome epic scenes. Battles were combo's type, each character with its own sequence. I enjoyed very much playing it .. but it had a mysoginous point that irritated me. I now it happens often in old rpg's.. but the case of Legend of Dragoon really drove me nuts. What a shame, otherwise it could had been one of my favourite videogames... Not in dictionary, google says you spelled it wrong and should be; mesogenous which is: In some angiosperms , applied to a stoma in which the 2 guard cells and the subsidiary cells are all derived from a single mother cell. Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 15, 2010 I see. I wonder what will become of it. Why don't you want them to do it, Arkbennett? To me, it would be hard to remake a game with the same style as FF7, mind you the style was only achievable by the Pre-rendered 3D background. For example, it would be hard to translate the isolated junkie feeling of Midgar to a 3D environment. And there is always the off chance they are going to modify the game such as adding extra Materia or Storyline or even adding the Geneses scene. Let's not forget that all FF7 Incarnations have not produced an accurate feeling and geography of Midgar or anywhere else for that matter. This would destroy the very foundation FF7 was built on and make it lose it's feel, even if it were a good game. OH, god, what if they do add the Geneses scene? I don't know about you guys, but I don't accept that canonical approach to the game. I feel how the original game was plotted was how it really happened. You just can't go back and add scenes to the game later.
solshadow 0 Report post Posted April 15, 2010 hmmm.....a remake of Red Faction BY Violition. The "sequels" just killed the series and turned fans off to it entirely even tho some new game features need pay respect to it (i.e. fully destructible environments). True the engine was primative but I loved spending hours firing a rocket into walls and tunneling until i found some secret nook tucked away by the game designers....well that or until the game crashed haha if you ever get the chance, play the original. OH wait! can we do two games? well system shock lol yea yea bioshock is the "spiritual successor" but its nothing like the real thing. The graphics may be dated but it is WELL worth it. PC game .......now you've got me thinking haha ok last one: Deus Ex! The second game was a letdown (prolly due to the fact that it was the prototype for Project:Snowblind?) but with the new trailer for the 3 game, its looking pretty good. Now while it's rumored that the third game would be a prequel to the first its a good thing to play the first game. Moral decisions left and right, couple that with an expansive skills system and a multitude of weapons this game will tickle any gamer's fancy. Take the direct approach or sneak around, picking locks and hacking computers? Which lie will you lead? And with that im done lol time to go play pokemon haha

Those games seem interesting. Yeah pokemon is a great game! Which incidentally has a few remakes of it's own. Soulsilver and Heartgold along with Firered and Leafgreen. Good games. Wyzrd 12 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 I agree with what Ark said. I would hate to see a FF7 remake. I think that they have done way too much with it already. I think it should have been left at FF7 and that's it. None of these add-ons that they keep coming up with. As far as remakes. I wouldn't mind seeing the original Zelda from NES. As far as the Pokemon. I wouldn't mind seeing that either and I don't mean the remakes like Fire Red. I wanna see it on PS3 in 3D with high def graphics. I would completely buy it. I think it would be awesome. I have always loved the Pokemon games.
Kadyaknight 0 Report post Posted April 16, 2010 I'm going with my FAV RPG: The Legend of Dragoon. I agree 100%, that was one of the best games on the PS1, and one of finest RPG's I've ever played, I would love to see a remake of this on the PS3, I mean, you can imagine how awesome the dragoons and spells would look. I heard that they made a sequel game but it was only in japan. As for the FF7 remake, I wouldn't mind it, nor do I hope for it, hell, I never did finish it(*but I have seen the entirety of it), but I think that they kind of owe it to fans after putting them through this much BS. The fact they have been dancing around whether or not they're going to do it for so long now, some of the excuses are just ridiculous too, as I stated previously though I don't care either way. {EDIT} I guess on one hand I wish they would do it so the people clamoring for it would shush, but then you'd have them hyping it lol. I agree that they should have left the franchise the way it was though.
