Dai 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 Right so first of all....who the jerk that created virus  ??! I just realized that my pc has been infected by virus and it is in a serious state! So I was thinking of reinstalling the windows but this means that I lost all my software because it's imposible to install it again! And one of the software is rpg maker xp! One of my 2 most precious software...The thing is,one nice guy in here has already paid for the software so that I can use it forever...but if I reinstall the software, this means that it has to be paid AGAIN! How can I reinstall windows without losing the full version of rpg maker xp?
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 I dont think there is a way. You could try using your key again or contacting enterbrain about your problem. How did you get a virus? If you need tips on safe searching just ask. Also if you run into a site you want to know if its safe or not drop me a link. I also suggest. WOT(Tells you what sites are safe or not and will block bad ones) Firefox with adblock plus Malwarebytes Spybot SD Thats what i use and i haven't gotten a virus in forever. Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 It's also possible to delete the virus yourself. Just figure out it's name and then type it's name in and add "removal" in google, and see what happens.
madanchi 18 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 even if he did delete the virus, it could already have installed a load of other nasty stuff downlaod Eset off the site - google Eset Nod32, Eset is a master at detecting and getting rid of any virus, all the hackers use Eset so you can be sure it's good enough if even hackers use it :) I use it along with Malwarebytes antimalware. As soon as youve downlaoded Eset etc, imediately turn off all internet conenctions, run the scan in safe mode, let it run for about a few hours or less (however long it takes) edit: here's the eset link http://www.eset.co.uk/Trial/Home Youve most likely got a common Trojan thats all and if nothing works, then transfer only your essentials to limit the files the virus may have infected, then do a reformat (reformat as an ultimate last resort lol :P )
Joey 9 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 What does the virus do? I had a virus (trojan) that was kinda freaky...got to the point where I had to wipe it out. Thankfully my dad was around to help and was able to save and transfer a few files over to his laptop. I don't think it cost anything to reinstall XP though... Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 That happened to me before, and I had to reinstall vx but I didnt feel like paying, so I downloaded a keygen to reinstall it. ironically the keygen turned out to be a virus on my cpu but then I learned that it wasn't and that all keygens are thought to be viruses by windows. Would I reccommend it? Not unless your willing to take a chance of getting another virus.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 28, 2010 This has happen to me twice with my old computer. What type of virus protection do you have?
Nisage 31 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 I hate viruses, I've gotten a decent amount of them to learn to put your files onto a flash drive and keep updating the flash drive weekly. The virus protection I use (use now :P) are Firefox with adblock plus, Malwarebytes and Spybot SD (I thank Polraudio for telling me about these programs. Computer has never been safer :)) As for having to "buy" RMXP again, can't you just send a letter/e-mail to the RMXP company that you bought the game and had to re-install it do to some virus issues? I know someone posted a topic very similar to this once before, or is that just me? I wish you the best of luck with getting rid of the virus and hope you get RMXP running again :)

Dai 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Thanks for all the replies :) Well how can I send an email to them? And how can I prove that the rpg maker xp has been paid?I forgot how it all works about it...havent use it for quite a while coz I am too busy with school so I was planning to use it again when school holiday comes.. And the virus reduce my local disk c space...there's this one night that I scan my computer but had to shut it down coz of something..but the next day when I open the computer again, the local disk c space is 0! So I removed all the possible files I can from c to d and I have about 500mb left...And it's now gradually going down..and I cant even use photoshop anymore coz everytime I use it,my local disk c space is going down...I'm afraid it will be going down to 0 again and I can do nothing about it so havent use photoshop since... might going to install eset nod anti virus but will it work? The virus is reducing my local disk c space! This has happen to me twice with my old computer. What type of virus protection do you have? Well I have kaspersky anti virus... I dont think there is a way. FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Dai please do not post 4 times in a row. lol! You can use the multi quote function to reply to everyone in one post. :) I suggest you change your protect to Mcafee or Norton. They are the two best anti-virus programs.
madanchi 18 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Norton is crap, Spybot is just a joke, Mcafee is good but clunky, Malwarebytes is good and clean, Eset is clean, simple and does the best out of them all Do a scan asap !!! cut all internet connections, as long as you can istall Eset, with what limited space you have, you should just save yourself. But also, not mattr what, dont shut down during a scan, cos youll have to do it all again if you want, Superantispyware is good and will work fast
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 Norton is crap, Spybot is just a joke, Mcafee is good but clunky, Malwarebytes is good and clean, Eset is clean, simple and does the best out of them all Actually Spybot works great its not a joke, its used by computer technicians all over the place like myself. You should be able to remove your problem by using spybot and malwarebytes after they been updated. Restart into safe mode after updating them then disable internet and do a full scan. Spybot: http://fileforum.betanews.com/detail/Spybot-Search-Destroy/1043809773/1 Download on right hand side. Malwarebytes: http://download.cnet.com/Malwarebytes-Anti-Malware/3000-8022_4-10804572.html?part=dl-10804572&subj=dl&tag=button If you need proof of them 2 programs working perfectly just ask Nisage, I been his computer technician forever. Dont tell me i dont know what im talking about, i been fixing computers for a very long time. You learn lots being the only tec guy in 40 miles.
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 http://www.avast.com/index#tab2 I use Avast, better then Norton or Mcfree and AVG. I have used all and found that Avast updates itself far more then the others. Avast is also foreign coded so US hackers have harder times creating viruses that bypass it (unlike Norton). They have a free version and two paid versions. Also price wise Avast is cheaper then Norton or AVG. MCFee charges the same as Avast for their basic plan, but the first time I encountered MCfee was with AOL and well AOL is a joke! I also like it because it checks all downloads before they download to my computer. Other things I use (but are not free) is Driver Fetch which will scan your computer for missing drivers or outdated drivers you have and offer download links to them(http://www.blitware.com/products/driverfetch/). I have another, but don't remember the name; post when I get home.
madanchi 18 Report post Posted April 29, 2010 lol I believe you, its just that with me Spybot never detects viruses that are dug deep into your comp or really nasty nasties, its good for trojans, spyware and other viruses but not the nasty ones. Avast couldnt detect 16 virus that my sister had caught on her laptop :shok: which to be honest I was shocked at
Dai 0 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 If I install another anti virus, this means that I have to uninstall kaspersky right? The anti virus you guys recommend that I actually heard of is only avast and eset nod,so might go with eset nod coz I did used avast before..if neither of this works,I might just aswell try all of em. Thanks a lot
Joey 9 Report post Posted May 1, 2010 ...I dunno about Spybot really...when I had that trojan that pretty much took over my computer SB didn't even detect it. AVG did however, but it was too late then. (when the virus took over everything and ruined my computer)
madanchi 18 Report post Posted May 4, 2010 ouch nasty :( I'm guessing you ahd no choice but to reformat? and Dai, you dont always have to uninstall the other antivirus, just disable it, then run the other scanner you want and just to note - sorry i've been off a while, I had an influx of uni work to catch up on (and still have a LOAD to do for the next week or two), and just saying that im not/ wont become one of those dam dead users that always sign up and leave on forums ;)
AbnormalHairGrowth 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 I had Avast once. The only things it ever detected were false alarms. I finally got fed up with the thing and switched to AVG, which has some good recommendations.
madanchi 18 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 yeah I heard AVG was ok, so is super antispyware
Dai 0 Report post Posted May 5, 2010 and Dai, you dont always have to uninstall the other antivirus, just disable it, then run the other scanner you want How can I disable it?Sorry,I'm clueless about this kind of thing..
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Do not use AVG, it is horrible. I just lost everything on my PC a few nights go to a virus called "Aleron". It shut Windows down and now I'm stuck on Linux. :c I also got my code from a friend who has the system. He bought me a XP, and I can't get it to install again when I get 7. :c My best advice is to save all your stuff online, so if you do get to install it again, you'll have all your stuff. You should contact Enterbrain or....go to other measurements, which I advise not doing since you have no proof you bought it. P.S Don't use AVG! I beg of you! It is a worthless thing! *On a short note...Does anyone know if RPG XP runs on Linux/Ubuntu?
Joey 9 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Calm down Crimson, lol...its just an opinion. XD I find it ok myself.
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 *On a short note...Does anyone know if RPG XP runs on Linux/Ubuntu? Yup. Been using linux like crazy. Got it to work on every version of ubuntu with no problem. Just the sound dont always work but its different fir every computer. Use Wine 1.2 then install RMXP and wala it works. VX works also. With Wine you can emulate windows programs and about 50% of the time they will work and theres a 50% chance in getting it to work if it dont right away. If you need any help with Ubuntu add me on MSN or anyway that works for you.
Joko 1 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Man i hate trojans. had one once...XD
Joey 9 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Yeah...the trojan I had was a weird one too. It took down the internet...(I dunno how to explain it, but basically wouldn't let me surf the net on the computer) It disabled System Restore, meaning I wasn't able to use it at all. For some bizarre reason it took over my wallpaper too. o_0 It changed it to some box saying that you should scan for any viruses and that the network or whatever has been disabled until the virus is removed. I guess I could say my dad (when he looked at it) called it a joke, it wouldn't even let me change my wallpaper back. (unless I went to the image itself, lol) All this and at some random point this system window pops up and reboots the computer in a few seconds. No clue what the deal was, we tried everything...all was left to do was wipe my computer out...took forever, I missed my computer. But now its back. (in an upgraded everything too. xD)
evil cabbage 9 Report post Posted May 6, 2010 Sometimes I wonder how people get viruses, as I have never had any....... but I don't download stuff illegally and I scan everything with three scanners, regardless of the source. Do you guys mainly get viruses from crack/warez sites?
CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted May 7, 2010 Sorry, Joey lol I lost two computers to that software :C @Lucas: Really? Wow, I knew Linux was da best ^.^ Would you mind if I pm'd or posted on your profile? My drive was destroyed, so I'm stuck with a small one that runs slower than anything I can think of. I can't even run the Linux messenger :c Which, is very cool looking ^.^
