Question

Welcome to Magi's try at ripping the tilesets from Final Fantasy 6. I have come a long way, hard to believe, but its true. I can rip tilesets now, my only problem so far is autotiles and what should be autotiles.

But, I thought I should show everyone what I have done so far first:

Yay, there wasn't a door. There will be one once I figure out the mechanics of autotiles and placement of them...Oh, and those images are new ;)

Videos: In Action tilesets.

The video is very old, I have done so much, and have managed to figure out how to set passages and properties. That was the easy part...

Cities/Towns/Caves/Placed Done:

Narshe: 65% done

Narshe Village: Complete

Narshe Village inside houses: Nearly complete, need to autotile the inside of the house (the "roof" I guess that's what it is.)

Narshe Caves (Cart Mines): Nearly complete, need to make the walls into autotiles and then the cart tracks into autotiles

Narshe Caves (Battle Room): Nearly complete, need to learn how to make Autotiles

Narshe Cliff Scene (start of the game): Complete

Narshe Northern Cliff (Where you fight for the Esper against Kefka): Nearly done -- autotiles info needed.

Narshe Caves (Area where you get Umaro): Haven't started yet, but I do know I can do it fast, it'll be the autotiles that's the problem.

A lot to do, but it will be easy as soon as I know a few things, promise.

Things I must learn first:

1: How to properly make a autotile

2: How to properly Animated Autotiles

That's all for now....

And finally, the update log:

Updates as of August:

1: 6-12th -- finished Narshe and Narshe caves, need autotile.

Find tiles in your tileset that are similar to tiles in standard RMXP tilesets, such has the parts of cliffs etc. Then compare your settings to RMXP's default settings for that tileset. That should help at least a little.

Practice makes perfect!

Atucally, Kiriashi, that will help! Thanks so much! I wonder why I never thought of it >.>

I think I found an easier way to rip, I won't know for sure yet until tonoight, but if it is, I will be able to get Figaro and the Narshe Caves done as well!

Update again!

I've nearly done with Narshe! I have a few ropes to do, the mountains and then the autotiles, and then I'm done with Narshe's town. Next will be the inside of the houses, and then the caves -- which will be easy -- and then the battle hill of Narshe. Then I'm completely done with Narshe.

Here is a screenshot of my resent test of the tilesets. I hurried up and uploaded, but behind the tips the tops of the rocks, are flooring. But that's now gone in the actual tileset. I just didn't have time to screenshot again lol

So, is it coming along nicely, or bad?

Nope, it doesn't have everything. It has the outside of Figaro and some of the world map.

I know Dargor, I post in the thread all the time ^.^

He releases are just teasers for right now, he's nearly done, or so I think, but right now, there are no tilesets for FFVI. :)

He's the one helping me ripe the tiles :D

This, right?

EDIT:

I'm having problems making the doors. I can't just make them a block to paste onto the map, but then people wouldn't be able to open them.

Does anyone know how I can go about making the door into a character like the rest of the doors? I made it bigger and then imported it into the right folder, but it doesn't work >.>

Update!

I'm working the on the inside of the houses to Narshe, but I've run into a problem. :sweatdrop:

Doors and finding out if I should make the house walls (like the ones in XP) into autotile like XP or just tiles you can place by hand. Autotile sounds easier for the player, but harder for me. I want to do it, but I don't know how. Anyway wanna help me make doors and autotiles for my FF6 ripping...? It would much appreciated. :biggrin_002:

Anyway, for now, I guess I'm gonna leave the inside buildings out of this, for now. I'll have to focus on the caves and other places. The inside houses to any village, will have to wait for when I have some help or a hefty amount of time to figurin' this out.

*Also, if anyone wishes to help me, I could use an organizer. I make the tilesets, resize them and someone could organize them neatly....?

Oh, expect this post to be updated soon! I'm 20% done with the caves! I move fast, which great quality now. :)

I'm gonna start up with this again this Saturday and Sunday, as I said before, inside of houses and doors, will have to wait. I've tried again with the inside of the houses, but its just so difficult. Every time I rip them, they are either an inch higher or lower, than its partner ripped graphic. :facepalm

I can do outside, villages and things like that for now. I'm done with Narshe and almost done with the caves, so the next will be Figaro, since you go to Figaro next in the game lol

I'll update as soon as I finish the last of the caves, I might even be able to make a test video or something :)

P.S

If I never said it before, I know how to make autotiles! yay! :D

Alright, started up on it....I've encountered a problem, similar if not exactly, like the one problem I encountered inside the houses.

My problem is the sides of the map, where ever it may be at the moment. I tried everything I could think of, and each time it is either lower or higher than the rest of the tileset and cannot match up with it. I'm thinking a autotile will do, but I'm not sure what to do. This problem is a little too hugh for me to handle right now >.> Any help?

Something keeps tellin' me Autotile, but then I go "there would be too many tiles to fit into the autotile template :<

Alright guys....I've been messing around, and this is all I managed to get. It still has so many errors, no tips or sides, but I can't seem to figure this one out.

20jpmc0.jpg

Someone told me to use this, 'cause it might help, and I'm gonna try it tomorrow 'cause I gotta get off for studying and then bed, but if anyone has a solution, please share. I will give you warn, cuddly hugs....!

^,^

EDIT: August 13th 2010.

I've decided to just mess around with the autotiles, but this is the latest failure I got.

2nive61.jpg

I don't know if I'm using the right template, the last one I tried looked like this:

Any have anything to suggest, some help or something? :(

Now that I'm finished with my novel and have loads more of free time, I can get back to this! The autotiles have been a punch to the gut. I had no idea how to go about creating one! I couldn't find any tutorials besides one that wasn't really...helpful. I mean it was great, no lie about that and it taught me everything I do know about it, but it didn't help with what I had problems with.

And then I came across this image and this, which greatly helped me! Now that I know how to do it (or at least have the concept down!) I can go on with my project. The autotiles were really bugging me and it made me not want to continue until I had months to myself, but now that I have the inspiration and new knowledge of how it works, I'm pretty sure I can do this! So far the only hard things I've encountered was the autotiles and organizing the tilesets. Yea, ripping wasn't hard, it was organizing them that was hard! lol

So those images combined with the previous post has greatly improved the chances of actually ripping the entire set of graphics! Yay! It won't be as great as Dargor's SDK, I know it, but its a great project for those who....don't want to use the SDK? Crazy as they might sound xD But who knows, maybe it'll be used besides my use of it. lol

Anyways, I'm starting it up once again! Although it never ended after the last post, I just saved autotiles for last, which was basically slowing it all down....

Well, expect my ten attempts of different autotiles soon guys! I already have two in the works!

(Although I still not sure I know what the top right of the autotile (The "1") does I think I have a clear idea what it is and how to create my own lol)

Well, that's it for now :!:

I don't think your autotiles are right.

I know how o do them if you'd like me to do one as an example?
