Marked 197 Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Apologies for the time between announcements, this time of the year is always a busy one. After doing a lot of reshaping in the menus, I considered where to the place the link directory which we've had for many years now. It just seems to sit there and be no use to anyone. So I thought of how I could improve it and make it more effective. The system is now one similar to a topsites system. Each link in the directory now has a reputation system to measure user satisfaction. And that's the goal, to get a list of the best links possible to make the link directory as effective and useful as possible. Everyone can rep each link just once, even guests. 1 rep per account/IP address. However, it is obviously silly to rep every single link. Please only rep the links you think are the best and most useful, so they rise to the top. And I would also appreciate if members did that now to get things started. :) Users can also add their own links too. If you have a website, feel free to add it as long as it fits into the category. Some rules apply of course. Features: -Click counter per link -Ordered by rep count then date -Members can add there own links -Add/Remove your reps (suggested by Arkbennett) -2 reps per category (suggested by Arkbennett) -guests can rep links Click Here to visit the Link Directory We also have an upgraded news system on the homepage. All of the news items since the beginning of the forum are available to view with 4 news items per page. They are of course just topics from this forum, but its nice and centralized :) 2 Kiriashi and Wyzrd reacted to this
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Well what if a user no longer found that type of link useful? Is there a way to de-rep it so to speak? Oh, and you should limit the amount of reps per category, you know what I mean?
Marked 197 Report post Posted June 20, 2010 I thought about that, and decided to not give users the ability to remove their rep. If they liked it once, I'm thinking the site must have been good at one stage. And that's what I want to know, so... But yes, I could easily add that feature, I was going to. Limit the reps per category, per user? Or all altogether? At the movement it would not be effective as there are only 2 links per category. But.. if we were to impose a limit of 2 reps per category for each user, I think thats actually a really good idea :)
Arkbennett 16 Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Limits the # of reps per category per user, which is why removing reps I feel would be a good idea. Like, I got 3 reps in music and there are 4 sites. I like 3 of the 4 sites, but then a 5th one comes and I decided I like it better than one of the ones I repped. So I derep one and rep the new one. Ya dig? Marked 197 Report post Posted June 20, 2010 Got it. Not sure yet how to limit the reps, but I'm sure it's not too bad. I'm working on the next release since I've got everything open :) EDIT: You are no able to revoke your reps and there's a limit of 2 per category.
