Would you make a game with LGBT content?

Okay so I was sitting at my computer looking at movies on SBS and I relised shows that had same sex relationships in them. I also made not of my friend compared to the adults I knew and found that my friend were much more accepting of gays and lebians and bisexuals like myself. Not so sure about the transgender but I don't have anything to relate to on that.

 

It got me thinking about games, and movies as well, and even books funnily enough. I read Stephen King books mostly, and in Cell one of the main characters was gay, in the recent book I read which was the Stand, Harold Lauder was accused of being gay which turned out to be ungrounded, but still. Then I looked at movies, things like Made of Honour, the bartender in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, and even Mrs Doubtfire with Aunt George. TV shows like Queer Eye, and Queer as Folk, even Gossip Girls and House, and Home and Away, and Glee, and United States of Tara.

 

All of these included at least ONE same sex relationship or something heavily based on the idea of same sex relationships. And I discovered not one of the games I played had anything to do with it, except for closet cases like Vaan. So I propose this question to you.

 

Would you ever make a game that had an openly gay character, openly gay relationship or a full cast of LGBT characters in it?

 

Its a fiar enough question. Give me your views. I for one would, he world is changing.

I wouldn't because I would fear that I might offend some homosexuals because of the little info I actually know. It would make a interesting game though  :alright:

I know, it would be subtlty, nothing about the character would be sterotyped or such, but they would be openly gay and have a partner or something to the like.

I wonldt care about causing offense, but I am not accepting of it, for a few reasons, but this isnt the right board to discuss that.

While I'm personally do not care about same sex relations in real life, I cannot stand Yaoi in anime mainly because I find it ludicrous. As For Yuri ~_~, I'm ok with it as long as its subtle.

 

I would not put a same sex relationship in my game unless it is necessary to the storyline, either for comedic effect (like in Maria Holic) or for serious plot.

 

In my opinion its only necessary when its important to storyline, other than that its just doesn't work

I would put LGBT content in my game (mainly for the fact that I am gay). It would be used in the same way as the typical heterosexual content is placed in there. If you want info on how to do it without offending people, Broken Messiah, talk to me ^_^

Funny lol, I have a lesbian and a gay in my game =o -- Im not gay myself, but my project is a very BIG, open, sandbox like rpg. as such its only logical to have some LGBT content. there's more besides two, but only two are of main interest with content.

 

besides, it opens up to more players who fall under that category lol.

This thread has made me to think about putting a homosexual character or two in my game Dark Chaos. I've known a few homosexuals during high school, and know one at my current job.

I knew this would happen, mixed responses, but its good. I only asked out of curiousity, but the more I think about it, the more I think about making a game, based off my own original story called Heart Shaped Locket, which has a cast of about 80% LGBT characters.
