Help on my game

In the time that my internet was off I gained a lot of progress on CodeGeass, however I'm at a point where the main character will be given the chance to join one of two conflicting groups, group a is the  military and group b is the terrorists. I need some ideas, but i don't won't it to be cheesy.

Just basically how should I approach giving the player the option to join Britannia or the Black Knights.

1) How about he was previously in one of the groups and he got betrayed. Now he/she can choose to stay with them or choose a different faction to gain revenge.

2) Or the player can go around the city with posters saying "Join Britannia" while the terrorists tell him/her to join them instead.

you could create a scene were, the military are fighting the rebellions. One of the military comes up to kill her just to get her out the way, a rebellion saves her unwillignly but she the player thought the rebels were saving here, BUT does she trust the rebels and does she want to join the Rebellions knowing who they are compared the Britanian Military? But she/ he has always been a Britanian but they turned on her in battle, so which choice does she decide

17 years before the current events Raito's father was working with a researcher studying the nature of geass, the power that manifests itself in everyone diffrently and how they can use that power to create enhanced soldiers for use in global domination. His father, a Britannian, saw how the research they had made and test subjects were crimes against humanity and fled with his wife, a japanese, into a Japanese town. The military didn't want him alive with such precious information and sent a squad of elite soldiers to hunt down and kill him. Once they cornered him, he gave himself up so that his wife and newborn son\daughter (Raito) could escape. 7 years pass with Raito's mother becoming sicker and sicker. Raito, given a oppurtunity to save her life, enlists in a goverment program to test new body enhancement virus. During the same year, Japan is tooken over by Britannia. More info him\her later but ultimately he is sent to hunt down a kill c.c. by a unnamed person independent of Britannia when thhey are given the choice of Black Knights or Britannia.
