Suddenly... I feel that my motivation has disappeared. Although I want to complete my project/game so much, and I've worked so hard, I just get depressed when trying to do something. I have got so far, and I always look forward to working on my game, but when I sit there with rpg maker in front of me, I'm just... overwhelmed by the fact that it's still a lot to do, and if I fail to do it there wont be no game and all my time will have been useless.

What should I do? If somebody makes me get trough this, I will reward him with an unencrypted version of the game.

Valdred, I have this problem all the time. But you just have to keep pushing and make the best of things. And for the record, have you ever been depressed like this before? And, remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and your game can't be built in a day. It takes time to make things as beautiful as possible, remember Valdred, keep positive and strong! :alright:

Ok, sometimes it is depressing to work on things that are very hard to finish. I totally get you. Does it feel like you just wanna quit everything and do nothing as well? ;)

That's the 1st enemy to all game makers. Getting bored of theyr own games, when there's so few left to complete.

Just give it time, and you'll miss the game, and that will make you start working on it again =)

Depression on the project - this is such a complicated thing... I am two weeks ago because of it almost trample all ties with the Maker, but it still has not receded. I still can not put a line in the project, it never goes the idea.

So do not be disheartened, you have not one here so bad. It seems time to open club "Creators in depression", right?

You need a plan. A clear plan, which may help to think about the project, and will not allow you time to get tired of it.

Prioritize. Plan on getting so much done each day.

Plan stuff like.

-Make 5 maps today

-Get a little further on story tomorrow.

If you think about it all at once it will make you feel like you are now.

So try not to think about whats ahead to much and just stick with baby steps.

yeah, val instead of trying to look at the whole prject as one big task, try breaking it up on smaller tasks that need to be done.think of it like a game in itself.

level 1 can be story, level 2 can be events and so on. until you get to the final level, tying it all together. and viola you've won and you game is finished!

so keep at it. you'll feel great when its all done. :biggrin_002:

Having a plan is a great idea. One of the things that makes me bored is the mapping and populating of a city, especially a big city. They say give each character a personality, make them individualistic. Sometimes that seems to be too much work. Several ways to reduce the boredom of city making is have a topic of that city (the king was assasinated, city excells in this area and weak in others) and then get most of the people to talk about or around those subjects. Another thing is that with the characters inside the city, give them roles to play instead of a particular personality. That could also reduce bordom and time constraints.

Just do what I do: Add stupid, funny things while you are working so you can't wait to test your game so you have to get work done. Then delete them when the game is done.
