DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 Hi, i started making the tileset for my new game. And would like some opinions... This is a simple image with the tileset stuff till now... This is with some effects, to alter the ambient to what i am looking for in the game... Yeh, still alot of work to do... P.S-Will keep updating this each time i modify/add new stuff. Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 Looks pretty good for a beginner spriter. I recommend copying other tilesets to learn.
Marked 197 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 It looks like you've used textures? That's not how you do it, unless that's the style you're going for. I think pixel art is pretty much universal for this type of thing. Check this out: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/3913-complete-rpg-maker-xp-spriting-guide/ Here's a diagram from that: -> Dots.
DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 2, 2010 Yeh, i used a texture for the wall. The ret ain't with texture. The reason for the texture on the wall, is because the walls actually have some format... Hum...-i'll keep showing how it is getting, and you can keep helping me. Thx =) *Yeh, sprit ain't my best thing :D
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 I like the look and feel of it. Keep it up.
gizmo00999 1 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 You have smudged and blurred, and whatever else, which means it's not a sprite anymore. It looks bad xD it's drawn bad too, actually, and it doesn't match your characterset. Nothing really that you can do besides practicing, and perhaps using paint, so you don't look at the smudge/blur tool, and go like: OMGIWANTOUSEIT.
DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 3, 2010 wah, thanks for being honest...and...it isn't to fit that character, lol. That is the main rtp character that rmxp uses automatly. loll
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 Your tiles have the RPG Maker 2K3 style. Your work is really good for a beginner. Keep at it!
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 wah, thanks for being honest...and...it isn't to fit that character, lol. That is the main rtp character that rmxp uses automatly. loll has nothing to do with the style of the tileset or the character. The character is bright and your tileset has a low bright level. A simple fix by taking the character and tunning down the light to make it slightly darker.

DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 Yes, this isnt a characterset showing, the only reason for it in there its because i couldnt think of removing the actor image, and it just appeared, so i could screenshot it. It's all about the tile. Thanks, yes its only my first, and as i said, not my best at all, but im improving, will consider all the tips, and improve it. Thanks
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted August 4, 2010 true true, but this is a tileset showcase, not character I am aware of this!! I was simply commenting on other peoples comments about the indifference and pointed out a way to fix it.

Shalaren Metropolis 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2010 it looks pretty neat! but I think the wall would look better without the texture. because the texture makes it look like... where is the light coming from?. anyway, its important not to forget to make an autotile for the walls! DarkGamer 2 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 I never used autotile for walls... simply have 3 sprites for each type of wall. Thanks for the feedback ;)
