Cabbie 0 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Maybe it's just me, growing up in a world that didn't yet have pocket calculators, but then again maybe it's not. You see, I'm not even really sure this is the right place to post this, but it seems logical. Perhaps someone could consider writing a short "forum" tutorial. I'm trying to get around here, but it seems I keep doing things wrong. I've read the "about us" and "rules" sections a few times, but they don't really get to the core- how do you use a site like this? Not just what do all the buttons do, and how does one find one's way around, but also what is the etiquette for communicating this way, when what one knows is face to face? As children we learn how to behave in social situations from our parents, but how does one learn to behave in this situation? As I said, perhaps it doesn't apply to anyone who doesn't remember disco. Just a thought.
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Some forums work differently. The buttons' names should tell you what they are used for. However, for newcomers to forums I guess a tutorial would be useful.
Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted August 6, 2010 Exactly what do you mean, your question in general could be answered in various ways for various reasons. Do you simply want to know the function of this place as a site and community or do you need technical assistance with using something on the site?

Just a thought. Oh boy, do I envy you. The thing is, my generation, which I'm guessing is after yours, grew up on the computer, socializing on forums. Sometimes its hard for us to socialize face to face, and I hate it. I try to go out with friends as mucha s possible to try and counteract this disaster. I wish I was born 20 years earlier. shure, no internet, but I would be more... "normal" lol

Marked 197 Report post Posted August 7, 2010 I think Kiriashi has written you a nice tutorial which I'm sure he will make public shortly. In the mean time, there is some documentation on how to use our particular forum software, which you will find here: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/index.php?app=core&module=help In terms of etiquette, I suppose the only way to learn is get involved. Actually I was just like you when I first discovered forums. I got told off a bit posting in the wrong sections, asking silly questions, but I guess now I'm pretty good.
