zane203 8 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 Alright, so i took apart my old old laptop, so i can make a wallmount pc out of it. (going to use linux =D) Ok so im basically done with the thing, aside from making a frame, and getting a new hard drive for it. But what I do want to do is not put a good keyboard to waste. I want to know if its possible to some how rewire a usb connector with the... what do they call em... datawire? that's attached to the keyboard, and if so can someone walk me through it? if no one can help me do that, does anyone at least know other uses I could use it for? Thanks in advanced ^^ -Zen
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 You might be able to. Check the wires that go from the keyboard to the laptops motherboard. If there are just 2 wires you might be able to.
zane203 8 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 its a datawier (i think thats what they call it) you know a thin wide strip that has a black square hub thing lol...
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 I dont think you can do it. Its worth a try. How many wires are in there? You can tell by looking at the lines.
zane203 8 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 its like 26, i kinda got crossed eyed counting x.X so how would I go about attempting such a thing?
Polraudio 122 Report post Posted August 9, 2010 26??? Wow. Never thought there were that many. Your guess is good as mine. You can try this but theres a chance it might ruin your keyboard forever. Split the wires in half and splice a USB cord and connect it to the 2 half's. EDIT: http://www.grynx.com/projects/converted-laptop-keyboard/
