I would if i had the time. But time is short for me.

BTW for a nice site that people would join i would use paid hosting.

You can learn lots from using a paid hosting. Marked went from being someone who berly knew anything to a very good respectable web admin.

Plus you need to know about everything there is to know about RMXP if you are going to start a site. Its like a job, if you dont know your stuff close to 100% your going to be fired(web site case it would be dead).

Not trying to give up your hopes. Just trying to help better yourself. :)

If you're seeking for a web forum with an active community, you need to convince your visitors with an inducement to join up and stay, instead of simply registering a forum, applying a skin, setting up a few boards and advertising it in its empty state expecting visitors to enrich it. Content will make or break a web site. You can start by adding quality content, and exclusive content that separates your site from others. What does your site comprise of that other sites don't?

I'm gonna keep that in mind for my website. Anyway, I'm going to sign up though to support ya.

Guys, don't expect that much stuff on it yet because it was just started. I need all the support I can get to add more features and make it ONE of the best forums there are on the web. So please support and contribute to RMXP For You! And thanks rgangsta for signing up, I'm waiting for Messiah though.

Oh and @Pol, although I do NOT know everything about RMXP hopefully enough people sign up to answer peoples questions that I don't now about. :alright:

Once you have a system of storing resources, I'll see what I can do to contribute. I have a collection of resources for RPG Maker 2000 and 2003, but unfortunately none for RMXP, the site's primary RPG Maker. Don't have intentions of flooding your RMXP site with resources from vintage incarnations.

What do you mean none of the sites are targeted toward RPG Maker?

EDIT: I'm going to add resource category and submit some of mine.

In other words, I have no RMXP resources in my file collection. Just resources from RPG Maker 2000 and 2003.

Oh! Well RMXP For You deals with all RM's. Go ahead and submit your RM2K3/RM2K resources!

Already aware of that, but I believe the site should mainly consist of RMXP material, judging by RMXP in the name. I have second thoughts of uploading a large collection of material designed for previous RPG Makers. Then again, the name is just a placeholder anyway. I just remembered that.

can I be perfectly honest with you? It's not gonna be what youw ant to hear, but its what you need to hear. Ive had many forums here and there. only one strived, and it took a long time to get there. I can offer advice, and it will take a ton of work on your part.

@ Knuckles, and Broken, yes It's called RMXP For you, FOR NOW. It is a placeholder name. Thinking about a name with RM in it.

@Chief, Thanks for posting that. Yes, it will take a while, and since one of your forums lasted...Then, maybe you could sign up and give me some tips. :alright:

Our site isn't good enough for you? :<

In all seriousness, I don't mean to be a downer, but starting a new website, especially forums, ESPECIALLY focusing on something as old as RMXP would be really hard to do. I don't even know if its possible nowadays; only the ones already established can exist, and even those are slowly dying.

Hate to admit it but Kiriashi speaks the truth, even still as long ecowolfsteen has the determination to have and maintain the site, who knows. Of course it won't get anywhere without advertisement.

Yes, yes, I know this. Of course I love RMXPU but I wanted to grow my own friendly community. I am determined that I can get this site t be good. And for the last time so there is no more screw up's. THE SITE DOES NOT FOCUS ON RMXP! It focuses on ALL RM's..The name is just a placeholder. And RMXP is only 5 years old. RMVX is only 3 or 2? And this site is like a reincarnation of all RM websites that are dying. So now people who are good with all RM's can come as one and be a nice community. I'm getting stuck on this whole nice community thing...:P

k, heres my blatant honesty now then.

Its going to fail. what you have now, will fail. why? Let me list a few reasons, and then you can take a look at them, and fix the problems.

First of all, pre-installed forum websites, like the one you're using, are horrible ideas, and limit the possibilities to what you can create. they will be your ultimate downfall. What is the fix for this? Get hosting, paid or free, and install a forum onto it. my favorite free forum software is phpBB. SMF is horrible and limiting.

Secondly, What makes you different from any other RPG maker fansite/comunity? What do you have to offer, or will have to offer, that others do not? This can be a really hard one to figure out, but its of the utmost importance and will make or break you.

Thirdly, a logo. Yeah, seems like something that wouldn't be the special, but branding is extremely important these days. You need a look, something that is very memorable and original. If your logo is something that attracts users, and can be used, ultimately, as a "brand", then you've got something great. This is really important, as plain, undesirable, unmemorable, and boring websites, don't attract members well.

Fourthly, age and maturity of the staff/administration is a big key. if the majority of the members are more serious, and mature about the forum than the staff, then the staff wont be taken seriously, and the community will be in chaos. Big piece of advice right there.

Fifthly, content. If you don't know a lot about the program, or subject that your site is about, then don't bother making it. Learn more about your topic before endeavoring into the 'community creation' area. If you can't help your members, than what good is your forum? this also goes back to my second point.

Sixthly, Don't give up. You will have many, many forums, and most will die, fail, and fade into dust. why am I sounding all philosophical? because, thats why. I've made many, many forums, and only one strived. It only died recently because we've decided to step it up, and recreate a community all together, one that covers a broader area, and can help users surpass their current levels of knowledge in a few areas. its one of my current projects, one that remains a secret for now. heres the point though; I can see that you're excited for this forum, but in all reality, it wont get far., at least, not where it is now. You need to really learn the internet before trying to be a part of it. Creating and maintaining a community is a lot of work, and time. be prepared to sweat over it.

well, that may just be some of the best advice Ive typed up before, lol

That wasn't so bad, Chief ^_^ I particularly agree with you on four and six.

You do remind me a lot of me when I started out. Although I started right at the bottom in terms of web knowledge and I also started with free forum software. I got this far: http://z3.invisionfree.com/RPGXP_Unlimited/index.php?act=idx

I started when I was 15 and I'm turning 20 next month  so much time. People are saying you can't get far on free forum software. While I think it does limit the potential of growth of the site I still think its worth trying.

When I decided to move this forum to real hosting, I didn't have any money or resources to do it, but I still managed to do it. If you want to know a host which I think offers good free hosting, I'll give you the link. We used to be hosted there a few years back.

Yea trap17 is a good beginner host. But requires you to be active on their site to keep hosting.

EDIT: did they die?
