Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted August 22, 2010 I want to start a Graphic Related Class, it will cover custom charactersets, recoloring, shadowing, titles etc. Thing is I dont know where to put this. There is no section for it in the other classes.
rgangsta 43 Report post Posted August 22, 2010 I'd love to join. I'm currently working on some characters so this would help a lot.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 22, 2010 If you can prove that your willing to put content in your class, a sub-forum can be made for your proposed class.
Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted August 22, 2010 How should I prove it?

Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted August 22, 2010 Perhaps I'll just use the tutorial section, it fits more I think lol
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Well if you have an idea of lessons that will work well in succession, you can have one. xD I guess I'll just have one made for you, and you can have a go at it.
Marked 197 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 There are actually quite a few members who PM me about this. Most aren't even active so that's an easy decision. To be honest, I'm not keen on classes. On this forum, I can't see it working. Mapping is slightly easier, it's less time consuming than spriting. My concern is that you will never get any students. I'm nearly certain no one will dedicate... However, you don't necessarily need participants to have a class do you? Why not start off with lessons which get more advanced and members can work through them. This way the content is more timeless and not used up by participants who may or may not join/commit. CrimsonInferno 35 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Hehehe, I'd read whatever you had on spriting, as I terribly need it lol Well, here's hoping to see something. :)

Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 I did indeed. Re-read your last sentence. It really did sound like you approved. Just give him a chance Marked. ; )
FranklinX 37 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 I think tutorials will be better than classes. Tutorials lure people in while classes will intimidate people.
Marked 197 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Well usually it's appropriate to test if the member is actually capable of teaching what they want to. Broken Messiah asked how he can prove it. A simple question really. Just write a tutorial, explain some aspects of spriting. Well Broken Messiah, you now have your own forum. The pressure is on to prove me wrong :) This may help as a guide to creating the structure of a spriting class: http://www.rmxpunlimited.net/forums/topic/3913-complete-rpg-maker-xp-spriting-guide/
rgangsta 43 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Yeah. I think tutorials would be better. There wouldn't be any pressure on the students or any deadlines.
Kiriashi 117 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 A class is essentially the same thing in this sense. Its just more organized based on his style of teaching. Better for someone learning; its harder to learn from a bunch of random tutorials.
Marked 197 Report post Posted August 23, 2010 Yeah that's right Kiriashi, so it raises the question why not post these in the tutorials forums in the first place. That's what I originally wanted to see before creating a specialized forum. For example, if a member can consistently produce tutorials then it makes sense to give them a forum if they want it. However if a member hasn't posted a tutorial before and then wants to start their own class, then obviously there's a risk there.
