Part 1

What will be covered:

Material being used:

GIMP By the end of this, you should have this as a sprited head

Only do the first middle stance or down idle position. Step One: Open you favorite image editor Step Two: Open the file of the sprite as mentioned in the material section Step Three: Zoom in to a comfortable level(I do not recommend MSPaint as it only zooms to 800, while I find it easier to be at 1600+up

Select a color to be the outline of the headband:

The headband doesnt not lay flat on his head, it wraps around. Use 175,7,5 as your rgb to get the needed red pixel. Draw the corners but remember to have it expand like so

Darken the red rows in this fashion

Top = Light

Middle = Normal

Bottom = Dark

This adds shadow to it

Just a reminder, zoom out to normal to see what it would look like in a game.

Find the center of the headband with alloted space for 7 occupied pixels

Using a dark outline, draw the outline of the green ornament.

Fill in the green area with 32,153,72

Add some detail

Then the shading

GIMP Users, I reccomend the Multiply tool

Now for the last part of the headband

As always start with outline

Fill in with color of choice

Apply the appropriate lightening and darkening to show to 3dish effect

Draw the outline for the bang that covers the left eye.

Fill it in as well

Apply a darker outline and shading with the inside being slightly lighter than the outside

Now begin to make the outline for hair. Remember hair expands beyond that of the head

Add in the darker detail lines

and shading

And hopefully you end up with something like this:

You use GIMP? I use Gale... Just as good... But you can't set transparency...
