A dedicated service section

Recommended Posts

So after seeing Leon's script shop, I thought it was kinda' cool to actually have the start of our own little "economy" on the site. We have an RPG shop, a bank, and now another place to spend points.

Well we're thinking of adding a new section to the forums, but it depends on how many people think they'll use it

What do you, RXMP Unlimited members, think of having a section of the forum dedicated to services? You can buy things with points from peoples' shops or set up your own.

There could be a list of all transactions made and other cool things like that.

So what do you guy's think?

I would definatly use it.

I would be glad to host a dedicated support topic (my specialty is tech support so.... computer software support I could do)

Members have different mapping styles, so the more the better :)

An alternative to the forum is another section of the shop where members can add the services they'd like to offer, and members can purchase them right off the page. However I'm not sure everyone who offered their services would go through with it with that system. I'm also thinking of making a skin switcher for the shop, so you can choose between the current VX styled theme or just a cleaner web-styled one.

EDIT: Oooh I just had the best idea EVER. Ok so members can upload their resources, and I'll make script that automatically places a watermark over it. So members can view what it will look like without actually being able to use it, then a member can buy it and have the original sent to them. :)

Hello, This Management

The Management would like to take this time to propose services such as story consulting and story editing as well as eventing as services for a minimal fee

Whether or not The Management will engage in offering sprites for payment is still in debate within The Management

Lastly, The Management would like to ask the user "Marked" if all resources will remain free until the user decides to charge for them rather than all of them being watermarked.

The Management believes that allowing some free resources will make the forums seem a lot more lenient and affable to guests or "Lurkers" then those more "snobbish" game maker communities which require membership in order to simply see the boards

If you're talking about the gallery, they'll be left there for everyone. To be honest thats just a big mess of uncredited resources...

This is like an incentive system. For members firstly to get credit, see how popular their resources are, and get something in return for members using them.

Just like the 'Members RPG Maker Resources' category. If that didn't exist those images wouldnt be uploaded anyway. Its debatable but I have noticed that most members who upload to the categories in the gallery are usually bulk uploads of resources that aren't their own.

Hmm, doing it right on the shop seems pretty cool. But the forum would be a bit more organized, and better for communication.

Perhaps a place in the shop could list all the services, and link to them.

: D THAT IS AN AWESOME IDEA! But I hope someone who does offer their service will be willing to do requests, not just selling premade sprites/graphics.

Uh, no. We agreed that there would be some form of payment. xD

And I am not expecting like a big deal of anything, but we DID agree on that.

Oops I seem to have missed your reply, Kiriashi.

If we had a specialized forum rather than right in the shop, and have the shop contain the links, that would be probably be a lot easier for me to setup. However at the moment I can't really think of any way to setup a payment system other than one member telling the other what to do and donate... But its all the same really.

The buying resources idea would have to be in the shop, but this would be much more effective as once one member uploads their resource, no one needs to do anything else because it will all be completely automated. Once you pay for the image, it will be emailed (or given in some other form) and that will be it.

I wouldnt expect members to do requests as well. Most types of graphics are very time consuming, particularly spriting. Unless you have a real passion for it, I can't see too many members seeing any number of points decent payment for the job. Not to mention members who may be unreasonable in their requests.

I this we should give this a nother look at. I saw on a website where you get points for posting and used said points for buying services/resources. I think a tag should be made for this

A well deserved bump. I was actually thinking of starting a mapping shop the other day. xD

Well you get points for posting on this forum.

Well my idea in this topic was to write a shop system. However others just wanted a casual forum for it. What is the preference now?

I'm still leaning on the forum side. The shop is a bit to far off the path.
