Noob Saibot 38 Report post Posted October 6, 2010 (edited) Alright so I finally played this; have been for the last few days. And I must say I am surprised at how closed minded and impatient FF fans and newcomers to the FF frnachise react to this game. Many have complaiend that it is not open world like most FF games are, but this option doesn't become available until later in the game (chapter 11). I'm currently at chapter 5, but I see no valid point in complaining about not be able to rome the world. In fact it actually makes sense not to be able just because of how they present the story; which brings me to my next part... I don't see how people are saying that FF13 was a disapintment because it focused on game play and graphics. This is just ignorance at its core. It has a story from the get go and even gives some back story, which in the end adds to the overal story and plot in some fasion or form. Game play wise I must say is sweet. No character level up, but your weapons can level up. Which makes more sense to me in a way. The battle system is nice and the removal of MP just means one less thing I have to worry about replenishing. I am very much liking FF13; plus I already new it was not open world in the beggining because unlike some people I actually watched and paid attention to E3 as one of the G4tv casters stated it would not become open world untill WAY later in the game. Leon 55 Report post Posted October 6, 2010 I agree with Kage. I dismissed FFXIII until I was so bored, that I finally borrowed it from a friend. Now, I am to the point of buying it off of him, I enjoy it that much. I hit chapter 11, and the game blew wide open. There is no way to explore previous areas, but how often do you get that option, even in life? Honestly, I find FFXIII a rather decent game. Only thing I don't like is gaining gil is a seldom occurance, but definately makes sense and works for the game. In fact, I rather enjoy the setup of this game. It concentrates on the story, much like I think an RPG should; rather than the adventure. If I want adventure, I'd recommend an ADVENTURE game. lol.

The lack of earning GIL is quite troublesome. Especially if you sold all of you KEY ITEMS for LEVELING up your weapons. Which sadly I did earning over 4,000 GIL, but later found out all the items I sold could have been used; especially the expensive ones that gained me a lot of GIL. Just wait until you reach that point of freedom and that music chips in. I, clearly, have a LOT of beef with Final Fantasy XIII. Enough so that it makes me appear to be a blind FFXIII basher. But my goodness is the Steppe one of the best JRPG experiences I've had. :'3 Yes, I can bash and praise XIII hard.
