Recently I have been messing with IPB (design wise) and have gotten re-acquainted with the new CSS tags. As many know I have been looking for a way to earn a little cash on the side. So I am going to start my own IPB skinning site. In fact my two first Skins planned will be RMXP and RMVX themed. I'll keep you updated.

Ohhh. Can I submit my skins too? I made this one if that qualifies me  Actually I didn't make the graphics, but that's a little part of it...the CSS is the real skill.

I was thinking about doing this, but didn't want to start my own site of course. You can do it on invisionzie and they take a cut of your earnings.

I would so love to do this, but I'm not familiar with IPB, or any other forum software's CSS. I could learn, but I don;t think I have it in me at the moment.

It's pretty easy to pickup I think. You can use an IDE or dreamweaver (because it has syntax highlighting) to edit CSS and the HTML live. So when you click save in Dreamweaver, you refresh and the changes have taken effect. It requires a little setting up and an offline server of course, but you can do it that way. After you got that setup (not that I ever used that method) its pretty quick to skin the thing actually. Particularly if you're not a perfectionist, like me :)

Well, I do have a server installed for php editing, so maybe I can figure something out. I would love to sell skins, they can go for up to $60 for a really nice professional one.

I have no problem with that. My IPB Skin site will run souly on IPB. So it will use IPB Content instead of Joomla.

But you can find them as cheap as $15 and still be good quality. Also you can find a simple IPB skin tutorial here: http://www.smartestcomputing.us.com/topic/37422-ipb-3-how-to-skinning/

Yeah IP content would be the smart choice. I'm not sure but IP contents styles also come from the skins, right?

The price is an interesting dilemma. Some people say that price is an indicator of quality. I don't know if you know any economics but the scenario fits in the with theory of monopolistic competition. There are many skins for sale, but since each are slightly different than each other, authors are able to set higher prices. Although no doubt decreasing the price will maximize revenue. Point being, though weak, you could set prices slightly higher than others.

EDIT: Forgot to say, I'll PM you after my exams in approximately a months time when I have some time to be able to contribute.
