Creating a cutscene

Question

Hi all,

Okay so I want to make a cutscene where characters talk, draw weapons, move (Like automatically, not when your character tries to talk to them). I went into the scripting and eventing tutorials but didn't really see what I was looking for

An example of what I am trying to find out to do is....

The opening of the game I am working on the lead character is in her home and her mother walks in and tells her to go outside to see her brother.

How do I make it so it automatically does that? Or it does it when a character steps on a certain spot on the map?

If it is in a tutorial or there is one online, can someone direct me to it?

Thanks a lot,

.. no doubt this has been posted before it's a really common question..

first thing you need to do is create an event and set it to AUTO RUN which will make the event start processing as soon as the map is opened.

in this event you begin to setup your cutscene..

using the "edit text" command to edit peoples speech "eg, Mum: "get out the front and see your brother." "

you also use the command SET MOVE ROUTE to make the players move around the map...

i suggest playing around with a text project before workign on your actual project, just try a few simple cut scenes where the user is spoken to and moved around until you get the hang of it..

there are actually ALOT more aspects when it comes to cut scening but this is the utter most basics that you will need.

when you begin to get more acquinted with the eventing, try playing around with the other cutscene options "show animations" "teleport player" camera settings, lighting and imagery.. so many things and once you get the hang of it you will realise that there is even more possibilities then you imagined...

Shuxion, support topics go in Game Making Support. This is important because when you use that forum you have to prefix your topic with what engine you're using. So is this for RMXP or RMVX? (seeing your profile I'll assume XP and move and prefix it).

I had your question before! :D

The easiest (really, its extremely easy!) way to understand how to make cutscenes, is to play this:

http://www.rpgmakervx.net/index.php?showtopic=5704

You will need an account to access the board, but it'll be worth it, promise!

It will teach you everything (almost everything to the system) how on to apply it to a cutscene. I went from "couldn't do anything at all" to "could make cutscenes at a mid-range level". You should check it out, it'll really help you.
