TheRexion 0 Report post Posted December 29, 2010 So, I decided to post this here. I hope your all honest about criticism but not harsh, even if I could probably take it. The moment he entered the forgotten cave, he began coughing violently. The moss and algae on the caves triggering his allergies. Still he didn't stop, he had a goal and he was determined to achieve it. The farther he got, the stronger and more violently he coughed. It got to the point where he was coughing up blood. He quickly reached for his inhaler and pulled it to his face to take a large breath. But then he couldn't breath. He couldn't inhale nor exhale. When he reopened his eyes, someone had gripped his throat tightly. His coughing must've given him away. He studied the figure intensely before taking any action. The creature had slimy green skin and what appeared to be scales. Returning the inhaler to his pocket, he attempted to pull the hand off his jugular to no avail. The monster cackled in response. Then the boy pulled his foot back as far as he could in such a situation and drove it as far as he could into the monsters chest. It howled, letting go as it staggered backwards clinging to its torso. Before he let it regain it's composure, he launched forward and lashed another kick into the thing's head. Sending it staggering backwards once more, screaming in pain. The boy took a large breath of his inhaler and began gasping for air while the thing flailed on the ground, bleeding profusely. After a few moments it ceased movement. The boy approached it and gave it a few kicks to make sure the death was true. No response. "Serves you right." And he continued to the back of the cave. Walking in the darkness he could only see the walls next to him and feel the water on his ankles. When reached the back of the cave, he saw a light being filtered in through a crack in the roof. "That must be it." He muttered under his breath as he scanned the wall for anything that looked 'out of place'. Nothing seemed to really stand out as peculiar. So he went and stood in the ray of light and looked up. As soon as he stepped in the light, the stone under it began shaking violently. Any other person would've jumped out of the way as quickly as he could. But his explorer senses told him not to move so he could find out what exactly was happening. The water began draining and revealed a small pillar that he was standing on. After a few more moments, it began to rise towards the indent. Which seemed to be growing in size. "I see how it is, you've surprised me yet again General." Few seconds passed until he was on the surface. Standing in the middle of a field with lush green grass waving to the breeze. The scent of honey carried with it brushing against his nose. The trees saying hello with the usual swaying in the wind. The boy didn't take any longer looking at the scenery, he had a mission to do. So he pulled out a compass, found West and began in that direction. He stayed true to this for at the very least, 2 hours. A large steel building rose over the horizon, as if saying "Here I am, you have found me!". But of course, inanimate objects didn't speak. At least, not english. The boy started to jog to warm up his muscles before taking off at a sprint. Within the span of a minute, he was standing at the front door. He reached for his ID brace and held it up to a sensor. "Tyler Rogue appearing before Galvan, mission tag 489fj32o." He said into a microphone. The door slid open with a whrrr and Tyler strode inside. The scent of rusty metal instantly filled his nostrils and caused him to choke. A man in a grey suit noticed him coughing and lowered under his desk to not be noticed. Tyler still saw him, however. "Randy, don't tell me you still have that stupid rust-scented candle." He said, flattening his hands on the table. The man slowly got back into his seat. Averting his eyes to avoid the boy's. "I just like it.. I can't enjoy that much?" He reasoned. Tyler shook his head immediately. "You can't enjoy something that causes others so much suffering. Besides, you don't actually like it. I saw you coughing when you lit it yesterday." Tyler argued and stood up straight. "Throw that thing away, before someone suffocates." And he walked around the desk pressing the button to the elevator. Randy slumped over in his desk. "Yes.. sir.." Tyler smiled and marched into the elevator, pressed the 2nd floor and awaited the nausea to begin. When he exited the contraption, he was near vomiting. He quickly exited and headed to the bathroom so he didn't throw up while in the meeting room. When he'd finished he went back and stepped inside the middle door. He was greeted by a shower of Hello's by everyone except the commander. "Your late, again." The commander roared as he stood up. Tyler put on his best apologetic face, which in retrospect, was pretty bad. "My apologies commander, it's all my fault that your cave makes me cough up a storm. It's also my fault that your sewer monster attacked me while I was in there." He said sitting down in his assigned chair. The commander's face turned red with rage. "I told you to take the other entrance, if you had listened to me it wouldn't have happened!" He shouted. Tyler rolled his eyes. "Yes, the other entrance that was locked and sealed shut 5 years ago. I should really try that next time." He said sarcastically. The commander never took sarcasm very well, his rage meter jumped off the charts. Which it usually did when Tyler was anywhere within hearing distance. "You show such a lack a deference, I can't believe I haven't fired your sorry behind last year! Your on your very last leg, Tyler, you should watch yourself before you lose that one too!" The Commander screamed and stormed into his office. Tyler simply smiled at this. "He really should get anger management lessons." Normally the other officers would have laughed at this, but even they knew Tyler had gone too far. Again. "Tyler" One of the men spoke up. "Don't you think your pushing him too hard? I mean, after all, he is your father." Tyler rolled his eyes once again. "You act as if I really care what you have to say, Harry. You've long lost my respect, so you shouldn't even be speaking to me. Especially by my first name." The man sat back down and spoke not a word more. Tyler sighed and followed the Commander into his office. Who turned to see who it was, then quickly turned back around. "Dad..." Tyler said calmly, trying to find the words to say. "Do you have any idea how difficult this is for me, Tyler. Because of your constant disrespect, I've been losing the trust of my officers. I can't run an organization with officers who don't listen to me!" The Commander bellowed, trying a lot harder than it seemed to keep from getting angry again. Tyler slipped his hands into his pockets. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again." The Commander nearly sent the chair flying into a wall when he stood up. "Your sorry!? You actually think I'm going to believe you!? You say the same damn thing every time something like this happens! Your credibility for your pathetic excuses for apologies is gone! I can't even believe your my son anymore!" He went up to the boy and forced him to look him in the eyes. "I don't care if your blood, I will not tolerate such disrespect even from my best rookie. You will get out and never come back." He said, more serious than ever. Tyler wanted to say something to change his fathers mind, but the look in his eyes said that wasn't going to happen. The Commander released Tyler's chin and stormed back to his desk, turning to face the opposite direction. Tyler stood there for a few moments, then turned and left. "I'm.." and he closed the door before finishing. He went down the stairs and to Randy's desk. "Teleport me home." He demanded. "But you still have a mission here." Randy explained. Tyler glared at him with unhidden rage. "I said teleport me home, now. That is an order." He exclaimed. Randy had no choice but to comply. He stood and set up the teleporter, set in the coordinates and opened the shaft. Tyler stepped inside promptly. Randy hesitated before pressing START. And in a bright flash of light, Tyler was gone. "What happened with them this time.." Randy murmured under his breath.
