Story arc selector

Question

Hi there,

I am working on a project and before the main characters all join together as a party I would to follow each individual story of that character up to the point of them meeting each other. I know I could do this in a linear fashion but I would like a screen which shows each character's story to play and once you have completed one arc it will sort of grey out and you must play another arc. Then the main story will continue once the individual arcs are finished. I believe this is much more dynamic allowing the user to choose their own path. Is it possible to do something like this?

Many thanks.

This can easily be done:

  1. Create new map
  2. Place said actors on map with a event page that erases the actor after their story is finished
  3. Change Current actor graphic to a sprite that interacts with the characters to initiate their arc, similar to ff6 Moogle
  4. Disable the access to the menu
  5. Set each actor event so that once activated it will run that persons story
  6. At the end of that story, transfer back to the original map
  7. Repeat process

That's how I'd do it at least.

I wanted to do something similar in my project. I wanted at certain points for the player to choose which leader (and/or plot-necessary) character to use, but have both stories form back into the main story.

Thanks guys. Yes that does sound like a good solution however I was wanting to use actual graphics rather than sprites though but I could try the same sort of concept with images rather than actors. Cheers.
