Knuckles 1 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 I don't know about you, but deleting and emptying the trash can still leaves shadow copies behind. You can always check that, Enigma :P You are correct. In fact it doesn't delete any data at all, but the entries off the table of contents that refer to the data. It's like a phone book and while the land number may become unlisted upon request, the number still exists nonetheless.
Elemental Crisis 0 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 @Enigma There's still a possibility of you recovering your data, try the following program. http://www.piriform.com/recuva There's no guarantee that your data will still be intact or useable. You can also try commercial grade recovery software though how you obtain it is up to you. :) For future reference. Create a boot CD for use in emergencies, I use BartPE (http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder/) with Total Commander (http://www.ghisler.com/) and it works wonders. Just had to use it myself about a month ago when Windows decided to kill itself. Here's a handy install guide for using BartPE. http://www.techrepublic.com/article/build-a-robust-windows-boot-disk-for-free-with-bartpe/5163404
