FranklinX 37 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 Sex offenders are the worst of the worst. They take advantage of their victims to control and dominate them. Rape is rarely about sex. Rape is for control, domination, and power. Sex offenders also have very high repeat offender rates. I believe the repeat offender rate is well over 50%. NFL Hall of Famer Lawerence Taylor pleaded guilty for having sex with a 16 year old prostitute. He only received probation and must register as a sex offender. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_Gq-5YgIAzQ&feature=related

Dragon324 16 Report post Posted January 17, 2011 You are completely right about sex offenders and how they do what they do just for power. Its actually quite scary indeed according to one of my college professors the chance that one of your neighbors (if you have any) being a sex offender or a suspected sex offender is quite high. I think that there is like an average of 1 sex offender at least on any street. Although the statistic could be quite wrong as many rapes go unreported. I also believe the chance for a recurrence in a sex offender is around %50. To them its like smoking/drinking its almost impossible for them to stop.

It's easy to stop smoking and drinking, just stop selling the product. May hurt the company, but would save a bunch of citizens from killing themselves slowly. Finding then stopping a sex offender is kind of hard, as you don't know where they lurk. Since they act like ordinary people at times.

Although the statistic could be quite wrong as many rapes go unreported So 1 but possibly more? Sounds like a bit too many, don't you think? In this country the legal sex age is 16 and prostitution is legal but only with an 18 year old or over. I don't think what this guy did was so bad, I know she's a bit young but a lot of 16 year old girls are fully developed. They'd also lie about their age too to get business. It also doesn't mention any sign of force or anything, sounds like they had an agreement.
Free To Play 3 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) I think pedophiles are a bigger threat. The innocence of children is a precious thing, and pedophiles steal that from them before they are fully developed. EDIT: The legal age in the US is 18, and the only state in which prostitution is legal, is Nevada. With special perimeters. nanou-gr 5 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 i believe it is quite scary to think of it in numbers. sex is something that should be enjoyed and meaningful, not something that would hurt other people lives. i totally can't face those people and i believe it should be punished. both them and pedophiles are wrong. it should be stopped:(
ProjectTrinity 8 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 (edited) Wow, so much animosity for what is quite literally deemed immoral by society. For obvious reasons, I'm choosing to stick by my own morals on this one: In a nation where two 17 year olds can be registered sex offenders for sexting, you know, with those genuine creeps that actually DO take advantage of people via rape, I think the sexual stuff is a bit blown up, including the severity of it. Don't get me wrong, in comparison to others, he should have been slammed harder, and forced rape is just something I personally frown on, but the whole age thing, sixteen? Sorry, I personally don't think the average sixteen year old girl will be as "taken advantage of" as some may think. It is quite literally a number. A number, when added by two, makes the act WAY more okay? Heh. Edited January 18, 2011 by ProjectTrinity

The problem in American is the fact these girls are in high school or are dropouts. They maybe fully sexually development. However, they may not be fully mentally development to handle sexual issues and pressures.

I think in the US it ranges from 14-16. Also for pedophiles in the US and at least in WV they have a website that shows you the location of the pedophiles so people can keep their kids safe. I don't know what it is off the top of my head but I will modify this post later once I find out.
isaacsol 10 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 Well, in the UK 16 is the minimum age for both heterosexual and homosexual sex, so this would not have been seen as wrong. Prostitution is not illegal in the UK also, only running brothels and soliciting sex on the street are illegal. In the UK he would have done nothing wrong, as long as she did not solicit herself on the street, and even if she did, it wouldn't be rape.
Free To Play 3 Report post Posted January 18, 2011 In america, you can't really put the blame entirely on the guy, sure he's the one who threatened her or whatever, but with the availability of handguns or mace, or even a pocket knife, it's partially the girls fault. (Given they're of adequate physical ability to aim and fire a gun/stab or cut someone.) It's hard to say no to a guy who's stronger than you, but easy to squeeze a trigger. Marked 197 Report post Posted January 24, 2011 Most Americans won't like you! I hope you don't mean to say that 'all' americans dislike people with different cultures/views. If its not american, its bad? D: I dont think so :) Why do so many crazy stories come out of the US. Actually I think its mostly related to the law/court system. FranklinX 37 Report post Posted February 7, 2011 I say they will dislike you because you support a younger consent age. Most Americans will scream rap if a 17 year boy has sex with a 16 year old girl. Many cases older men have sexual relationships with girls younger than 18 and people are offended by their sexual acts thus screaming rap.

Guest Allen Hunter Report post Posted March 3, 2011 I love how people think that just because someone 18+ has sex with a minor it's considered rape. What if a minor (probably 14-16 years old) asked for sex from a person who is 21 years old and did just that? Would that be considered rape? If a minor already has a fundamental understanding of what sex is and consciously offers to have sex with someone who is past 18 years of age, does that make it a rape? That's just stupid. Marked 197 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Its called statutory rape, where they are under the legal sex age. For example, my friend (female), 14, had sex with someone who was like 18. It was consential, but the mother of the girl wanted to press charges for statutory rape. He went away for 1 year. In NZ I think thats high, especially considering our disgracefully low murder penalties. I met the mother, they should lock her up too. Yeah I agree its stupid. But not all cases are like that, sadly. Worse, some girls take advantage to get attention... its sick. I know a girl who did that. I don't think sex is wrong morally with a female who is developed, but that may happen late for some girls, so a legal sex age is required. In my opinion. Oh, also important to stop pregnancies, they need to be educated about that stuff.
Guest Allen Hunter Report post Posted March 3, 2011 Yep, it's just ridiculous as hell. It's no more ridiculous than banning weed (here in the USA) and yet the law here permits the sales and distribution of cigarettes (99% more harmful to your health than cannabis). I also think it's stupid that over here we have to be 21 in order to legally purchase alcohol. In Canada you have to be at least 18-19 and 18 for the UK. It's just so stupid. Laws are bullshit. Broken Messiah 20 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 My class did this huge project on Sex Offenders and tried to get a policy passed; the sc state chose teen pregnancy instead. disgracefully low murder penalties What do you mean?
Marked 197 Report post Posted March 3, 2011 What do you mean? Well recent murder cases here in NZ have sentenced the murder to really low sentences in prison. I'd have to look at some cases to get the exact amount of time coz I cant remember off the top of my head. But compared to the US its extremely low. EDIT: This is odd. I looked up murder in NZ in our Crimes Act and it says: 02 Presumption in favour of life imprisonment for murder * (1) An offender who is convicted of murder must be sentenced to imprisonment for life unless, given the circumstances of the offence and the offender, a sentence of imprisonment for life would be manifestly unjust. That so doesn't happen... I'm going to ask my lecturer about this lol (I'm studying criminal law this year). Sorry for going off-topic there :sweatdrop:

FranklinX 37 Report post Posted April 5, 2011 We need more strict law against sex offenders. Sex offenders can be found in every neighborhood. That's not good for young children. These sick people should get longer prison terms. Sex offenders can get less years than a drug user. Although personally I don't think drugs should be illegal.
