Hello! So I made my own script archive called Scrive! I plan to make it for this site :D . This means all the scripts from our archive will be accessible through this program :D (Of course II have to ask the creators first )Now you?re probably asking why do we need this? Well it?s meant for users with slow computers or dialup but anyone can use it. It will be updated every time a new script is put in our archive! Right now there is just a sample script because this is a beta version! Also i am still kind of new at programming so it might be bit lame now, but good so far.

This looks good. I'm going to download it now to take a look...

I downloaded it, but it does not run on my computer.

It says:

The application failed to initialize properly(0xc0000135). Click on OK to terminate the application.

Also, I will move this to the computers forum.

Download .net framework i forgot to mention that. Get that here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=en is anyone else having this problem? If you are download that and it should work. I also added this under the downlaod section in Requirements. Also if that still doesnt work tell me and ill make it so it doesnt need .net framework if possible.

I used visual basic and sure i can use as much help as possible. There is a new version now which i will post a download too in one minute!

I will download .net framework now and see if it works. It would be preferred if it did not need that, as it would make things more convenient for the members.

Yeah but for some reason visual basics makes it so it needs that so it can look fancy instead of old as in the windows 1995 look. Anywho i will inlcude the .net framework installation in the next version. I suggest you download that version.

Is Visual Basics a program? I would probably need to download it if so to be sure of what it uses.

It is a program. It is a drag and drop program its awesome! Anywho coding is bery easy on it and yeah. you can get it at microsoft.com just type in visual basic express edition. Anywho were getting off topic kind of so ill say i posted the new version V1.0. It comes with the .net framework installaation as said earlier and it has new features.

 

New Version Features:

- Incldues a loading screen .

- Includes Script Type.

-Incldudes demo download for each script if it has one.

- SAVE SCRIPTS

It worked that time, and I like it. I voted for yes also, three votes, but it only shows one. Thats odd. I like this idea, but it should be discussed if it should go on. Do you know what would make this really cool? If the words were the same colors as in the script editor.

I noticed a few things. I think the program is great. But for this to work(Thousands of people download, as use it, and like it too) then they need to be in categories, and have a search function. I am thinking, this can become really popular, but the amount of scripts needed...well, at the moment you can only view one script in the little scroll menu. See what I mean? I would like to help with this, if I can.

Well about the categories thing. I will try and do that once I get better at visual basics. I plan to include something in the mean time if I can which is let say you press the a button it will move to the first option beginning with a, if u press b button it will move to the first option beginning with b so on and so forth. I think that will be good for now until I get better at the programming :) and to me that?s like a search function. About the colors the program uses .txt files to view the script so I don?t know ill see if it can do word files....

There is a new version!!

 

It includes:

 

The ability to press a button and the script selector will move to the first script starting with that letter! For example lets say you press the a button it will move to the first option beginning with a, if u press b button it will move to the first option beginning with b so on and so forth.

 

The update is added! I only put it on savefile. I will host it on filefront and mega upload tommorrow.

I like the new features. You should also make the .net framework download separate from the scrive, so we don't have to download 22mb each time.

Ok i will do that, and i totally understand that. But i will just give you a link to microsofts website instead! Also i need somene wh can make letters like the rpg maker xp ones :) if u know what im talking about.

May i make a couple recommendations?

1. A dropdown box that will list say, 15 of them. (you might not have this many yet, but it will help in teh future.

 

2. the ability to add scripts into the archive yourself. Simply to save on having to constantly download new versions.

...and just add the ruby script colours and it will be perfect! Easier said than done, i know. They idea of being able to add your own scripts is brilliant, i think that would make the Scrive very popular. I am very interested in this visual basic thing, Im going to download it and see what I can do. Then maybe I could help you, if you would like help. Though it looks like you got this pretty well covered.

Ill try and do the dropdown thing that is very simple! And about the adding scripts urself how would it save downlaod time? You have to remember this is suupose to be a onnline script archive except for when u need to update it. I dont' p;an on making a update every single little script i add to it. Maybe about every 7 scripts or so that way u dont have to update every day or so.

Adding scripts would make this program more like a script archive, where the user could add scripts that they like themselves. Which would be useful, but that is not what you are wanting it to do.

 

I downloaded this, I am surprised it's only 3mb. I can't use it yet, I have to find my Service Pack 2 CD, which could take forever.

you dont have to use the cd :lol:. You could get it from microsoft in there updates sections :D

I still recommend adding your own scripts into it. Then, instead of asking for every script and worrying about getting your butt nailed for you adding a script and someone claiming you stole it, people can customize their own and your butt is safe.

I'd actually like to see the coding you did for the program. I've actually downloaded the program, and I'm at the part of the programming language where it explains about parameters.

As long as the author is credited, I dont think you need to ask. The post them on forums, so, giving more people access to their scripts is a good thing. Asking all the authors is not very practical either. It would take far too long.

Yeah, that will be helpful. I didn't save any of my exercises though, so I'll probably end up forgetting the whole thing and having to review all over again. I did the browser exercise. I was surprised that you could create a fully functional browser with only one line of code. But that's because they already preprogrammed all of that stuff in there.
