Is there already a battle script like this?

I'd like an active battle system similar to Tales of Symphonia, in which the player directly controls one character at a time while the other characters are controlled through AI, and the player can switch control to other characters, or shout orders. For example, the controls could be something like A,B,and C for primary attack, secondary attack, and defend, respectively, and special skills could be assigned to X Y and Z or a combination, while L and R will switch player control to other characters.

 

If anyone already has or is working on such a system, I'd like to take a look. Otherwise, well, I have some programming experience already, so I doubt it'll be too terribly hard to learn RGSS myself. :)

There's a battle system like that. But it's for VX and it's private/unreleased. I heard it was all through eventing so I guess that's good news. Meaning it can be re-created.

In the video, the player controls the girl and heals the guy in the black costume. And, of course, you can switch players.

Hey! Eventing isn't a half bad idea! It could surely work great with just one character. The hardest part I think would be the AI for partner characters. Thanks for the idea. :alright:
